I think you will find in law it is quite different. Emotionally it’s quite different also, there would be a rather large element of shock and disbelief.It’s everything to do so th being homophobic, when it boils down to it, you either cheated or didn’t.
It was you that brought up the cheating on someone of a different sex as some factor that made it morally worse, not the victim of cheating.

If you cheat on your partner with someone of the same sex, it's not considered adultery - even if you're in a same-sex marriage
