Sasha Johnson - BLM - Shot

Crime statistics can be and are manipulated to suit any argument. Gun crime is not just categorised as that, but gun crime with robbery, gun crime with murder, gun crime with attempted murder etc.

I lived and worked in London from 2001 - 2010, and certainly felt a lot less safe by the time I left than when I first moved there.
When you arrived the rate was 2.4 murders per 100000. When you left it was 1.5. it may have felt less safe, but in reality it was not.

No they can't. If there are twenty murders one year and ten murders the next then there have been fewer murders. It's simple bald facts. A dead person is a dead person. But like you say if you're determined to believe the earth is flat then that's you're call.
Goodness, everybody knows the earths flat, what’s wrong with you man.

having had a look it does seem you are correct about your comparison to the noughties - as others have said it certainly doesn’t feel that way.

I will stand by and I think the stats support my assertion that over the past five years that homicide rates in the capital are on the up.

They've gone up since the early part of last decade but are yet to reach the heights of the 90s and noughties. The last year being an outlier because of the pandemic where we had a vast reduction in crime due to people not drinking and mixing.

There's also a train of thinking that putting a sh***load of people in jail from the 2011 riots also led to a reduction in general crime in London over the next five years.

Your feelings of insecurity are possibly due to your increasing age and the more sensational journalism today. The statistics point to the reality.

You're working class and of a right wing persuasion so naturally worried about 'the other'.

That’s because it was a ‘black on black’ crime.

The media feeding frenzy would be thoroughly energised if it were otherwise.

Poor old Diane Abbot had to get back into her box when the facts came to light.
...but not even a health update?

I'm guessing there are plenty of people that want to know how she is doing.

This can't be right. I thought "Black Lives Mattered"? Depends on the perpetrator of course.

As an aside, I wonder what BLM would have to say about the recent massacre in Burkina Faso. Or if most of their members have heard of Burkina Faso. Or do those black lives not "matter" either.
Ask them, I think I have a good idea what the answer will be. They'll be as upset over it as much as they would have been over the massacres that took place in Europe not so long ago in what was Yugoslavia.

BLM are experiencing some internal strife at present with activists on the ground asking where has all the money gone, because they are not seeing it.

that might be what the media are reporting, that doesn't make it particularly true. The concept that one of the co-founders owns 4 properties was reported alongside this. However she owned 2 properties prior to BLM the other belongs to her partner and the 4th is a recent purchase. It sounds like she was doing quite well for herself before BLM. Sounds like this is a media campaign to undermine the organisation without any actual evidence of fraud.
