Sam Greenwood

I didn’t really think there was anything wrong with the Greenwood - Clucas event, but clearly there was a lot of off the ball stuff going on.

The ref for me was poor in the first half and yet again we saw an event like the O’Brien incident which caused a broken leg go unpunished. I’m talking about the Hugill push on Jones which was in my opinion an act of unsportsmanlike behavior as the push was unnecessary, and resulted in a serious injury to Jones. There was for me a clear indication that Rotherham targeted Jones— they got their wish when he went off after less than 20 minutes.

Then we saw the pull on Greenwood in the box which again went unpunished, the there’s was the crazy sliding tackle on Rogers by their keeper which could have resulted in a leg break such was the ferocity of the tackle, again the referee took no action.

In my opinion the referee gave Rotherham carte-blanche to do what ever with us in the first half and when that happens it just fuels a poor game because the ref can’t be trusted.

It wasn't his best game but 'absolutely gash' and 'shocking' is just typical of the hyperbole on this board when we don't get a win. Thought he played well first half, was making a lot of runs and unlucky not to score not long after the Clucas incident. Wasn't great 2nd half, but who was.
he’s been awful for months

Nothing in it, clucas tried to grab him as he ran past, Greenwood saw it coming and dipped his shoulder and timed a perfect barge into his sternum. His elbow was tucked in so never a red.
Yes that’s how I saw it too

Hes rash and indisciplined with a short fuse. He was absolutely gash today playing in his prefered inside position instead of on the left. He comes across as a player who plays for himself not the team. Get rid
Absolutely gash ? He was the only one who got stuck in creating chances would you rather slm our player play like fry and barlaser frightened of there own shadow's some of our players are too soft

Has good and bad to his game, but I get the "hard to warm to" assessment.

He does seem very much a Leeds player.

This. Thank God he's not playing Tuesday because he's a straight red card waiting to happen. Plus, he's greedy and continuously wastes possession. Yes, occasionally he gets involved decisively, but the trade-off just isn't worth it. Can't wait for McGree to come back - and hopefully Azaz will improve options further.

He was poor again yesterday.

He seems to have 1 good game every 3 games or so. He's so inconsistent. Unless he scores or assists, I feel he doesn't do a great deal else.

I can definitely understand why Leeds were more than happy to loan him out and agree a £1m fee (if we decide to take that offer up).

I would probably still buy him at £1m - providing his wages aren't an issue - however I certainly wouldn't be building a team around him and he shouldn't be in the first 11, when everyone is fit, if we want to start targeting the play offs.

Greenwood is the Highest paid player now at Boro on £30k pw, but contributes little , so is not worth the salary and £1.5m fee. His body language lately suggests he has been told we won't be keeping him.

Greenwood has a good work ethic but silent always work smart, he has ability but is still learning. I think if he can sort his temperament out he could be a very good player. Needs to play the game not get into running battles with players

I don't think he ever even has good games. He sometimes does something very good for a moment in a game and can be rubbish for the rest of it. It's very rare here has several great moments in a game or a sustained period in a match where he makes stuff happen. Other games he does nothing.

I agree with others as well. His discipline is shocking. Constantly making unnecessary fouls in unnecessary areas. His decision making with the ball is terrible. Keeps hold of the ball for far too long which is weird because his success rate dribbling is really low so he isn't good at it. Carrick should be bolllocking him every time he runs into another dead ends when there's a simple pass on.

Hes so reckless with late challenges it wouldnt be a surprise if he was to seriously injure someone . On the mental side of the game i think hes miles away from being an asset.
