He’s another written off before he’s played a full game. To my mind the club have picked up a batch of promising young footballers whose careers had either stalled or were in need of a step up to try and develop them. We want to become a club where young players want to come and play and develop and do well.

Greenwood gets some minutes and then gets a couple of starts and bang, people are saying we have a player. Same as Engel. He signs late, struggles, gets absolutely slaughtered and then comes back in and everybody says oh yeah, he looks a decent player that lad.

I know it’s a message board and football is an emotional thing but these lads are human beings. Carrick included. They need time and support and then you trust their talent to come through.

Im loving these past few games. This team is going places. I said after Southampton that we’re up and running and we’re going up and I meant it. This is a very special Boro manager we’ve got here.

Btw...goal celebration....seemed at first to mock the home fans....but then it turned into one of those non-celebrating things from a returning player. Funny 😀
 
He looks a tidy footballer. A proper No10 type who seems to find space.

Also decent on the 'half turn'. I think he will get even better with a run of games. He's never really been first choice or given a run during his career.

Hopefully he can kick on. I imagine a perm deal wouldn't be out of Boro's reach. Although maybe getting ahead of myself 😂
 
Left Mackems for £500k when Stuart Donald selling the family silver. Then onto Leeds for £1.5m. Looks like he might just got established with us

I also mentioned his movement midweek and thought he played well for us. Today was a big game for him personally (Sunderland Boy), to cement a place in the team and also to show the fans what he is capable of. I think he achieved all that.
 
I think he’s been good in the last 2 games. Seems to have a bit of skill about him and a turn of pace and picks up clever positions in and around the box.

Also like how hard he works out of possession. Seems to press quite well - something he will have trained for all the time at Leeds.

Still early days but reckon he’ll be a very useful addition this season.
 
i was a bit concerned he'd get sent off. he's a bit chewy, and that's a good thing, but i was wincing a few times, watching him chase back and try to nick the ball from behind(!). Played well, deserved his goal, and here's hoping he goes from strength to strength!
 
Love his little trick when the balls played into him and he spins with it. I like Crooks but long-term Greenwood could be the perfect no 10 for the way we want to play under Carrick.
 
First goal was always going to be crucial and great finish following terrific wing play from Dale Fry (maybe Carrick can change his position)!
Played well in a slightly out of position role. Looks better suited to the no. 10 role.
