Ryan Giles signs..

The most ridiculous long running transfer interest of all time. He only signed for Hull last week.

I hope they are not flipping for a profit. If they genuinely don't want him then you'd think they would be making a loss.

A very strange transfer for all parties. I understand a loan with an obligation to buy . Yet surely if both parties don't want it to happen then surely could have canceled the move knowing we are interested.

Why would Luton cancel it?

They don't care if Hull make a loss, they want the higher figure.

Clearly an obligation by Hull. However they are spinning it to make it look like it wasn’t to save face all round. No signing interview no pics holding up the shirt no pics at training etc just nothing.

Not a chance are we allowing Hull to make a profit they are going to be losing a chunk on a sale to us. If they’ve paid 4 we have probably offered around 3.

Don't think they could have cancelled it, it was an obligation to buy wasn't it?

I suspect we think we can pick him for a reduced fee. Giles stock has plummeted since he was here. He's flopped in the premier league and struggled back in the championship. He's not getting any younger either.

I don't think Hull want him and no one else is going to be paying that sort of fee for him now.

If we're in for him it'll be because Carrick is confident he can still get a tune out him and we think Hull are looking to cut their losses. Basically that we can get a bargain.

Wasn't something said about Engel having some personal circumstances to deal with right at the end of last season? Wonder if that might mean him moving on (perhaps back to the continent?)

Confused. How can we sign him when he’s signed permanently for Hull on a 3 year deal?
They had no choice in the matter. No reason we can’t him permanently if they want to sell.

Remember when Vossen went to Burnley for all of a couple of games, then he wanted out and moved back to Europe.

Giles would be a great addition. Let Scott worry about the finances but from a football perspective he's a massive upgrade on Engel who isn't good enough technically for where we want to be.

It's one of the areas of the pitch that we regressed in from 22/23 to 23/24.

Bangura is yet to prove what he can do and may challenge him for a place but I would be very comfortable with going into the season with Giles as our first choice left back.

And that's 3m too many, he cannot defend, Hull will snap our hands off if we offered 3 million.
We should back off and let Hull keep him, he won't get a game for Hull and will be a 4 million player sat on the bench.

He only did well for us, aided by the intelligent runs from Akpom.

As long as Bangura and Engel are staying then I think 3 mill is far too much to spend on Giles as a LB to challenge Bangura and Engel.

Maybe the plan is to have Bangura and Giles in tandem down the left? in that case it would make more sense.

The quality of his crosses were not because of Akpom's runs. They complimented each other. Quality players bring out quality in each other.

Rob Edwards only took a few games to suss him out.

Luton had quality players last season, and yet he was benched after a few games, then loaned out after 4 months, so that scraps your argument, unless Wolves Luton and possibly now Hull are all wrong about him?

Unless we are going to play him L/M? that might work, but not LB, he cannot defend, he ball watches when out of possession.
