Running a Footy Club

I lived in Lincoln 10 years ago, good place and a fun night out, with a few distinct parts of the town with different atmospheres, that we used to call the top, middle and bottom. Never went to a Lincoln game but their fans seemed to be fanatical and not critical at the time.

Not surprised on their fan base being from miles away, Lincolnshire is quite big, and spread out, just little villages dotted all over. I was actually living near where I worked, but moved to lincoln 25 miles away for some nightlife. 25 miles of driving through country roads every morning in winter with glaring sun as there's no buildings or hill for shade!

People don't realise how small that place is, the population is only about 80,000 and has no other towns of similar size or larger within an hours drive, it's like it's own little world.
I actually had a holiday in the Wolds and really enjoyed it, but it doesn't seem especially 'popular' as a tourist destination.

Statistically clubs that do well spend a lot and stay doing well. They also need to spend over the odds on fees and wages. A good manager will produce an outlier, something a well run club should aspire to.

Zorro- loving your enthusiasm for your opinion but club CEOs see all the same data and recognise the stats that the evidence is the manager is immaterial.
To be contrary - you are right. Some managers can make a difference but ......statistically they don’t.
There will be outliers. Most Chairmen will hope they can buck the statistical trend and will scour the world for great managers.

I lived in Lincoln 3 years before I walked passed the cathedral (which is probably the main tourist thing), it was all lit up at night and looked unreal, it was like it came out of nowhere and there was tons of tourists. Just didn't expect it at all for some reason!

Wev - they are in the process of renovating the Cathedral. They have done a fantastic job - it’s lit up at night and looks magnificent. It is a beautiful city.

Ah cool, I’ll go back one day.

Hopefully the boozers round the Bailgate are still decent, and that trebles for singles place is still going!
