Rotherham - revenge for Boxing Day; focus, team & tactics

Even Millers fans will admit they were massively spawny in that game a few weeks ago. We were manifestly superior and they essentially scored without having a shot on target as their goal was a poorly-executed cross! With our horrendous injury situation beginning to ease, both sets of fans will probably be expecting us to comfortably exact revenge.

I don't doubt Carrick will fail to send his team out fully focused on the job in hand, but, human nature being what it is, it's inevitable players' minds will be drifting to Tuesday night. Make no mistake, if we are to develop the self-belief that will carry us to promotion, beating Rotherham at home is something that needs to happen as a matter of course (no disrespect to them), but that said, MC will be treating the two games as a set, with cup-tied players certain to play for example.

My one fear over those two games is gifting a soft goal. Millwall pressed us really aggressively last week and we were shaky. And haven't had a soft one since Coventry's first. Glover also looked like he had a rick in him against Chelsea and the (likely) wet windy night at the Bridge makes me nervous. If we have a mistake waiting to happen you'd almost hope it was on Saturday, when it might not matter...

It will likely be attack vs defense on Saturday with them sitting deep and then exactly the opposite on Tuesday !

Play all the cup tied players and hopefully be in a position after 60-70mins to make some changes and give minutes to Kavanagh, Gilbert and O'Brien maybe if he's anywhere near.

Glover gets more time under his belt and a clean sheet would be good for him - he might not be tested that much, but every time he gets 90mins under his belt is a bonus.

Boro 3-0. We'll score early, huff and puff for a bit against a deep rigid defence and then finish off with a couple of late goals.

I've gone for 3-0 in my predictions league too

Must focus on 3 points. More important.
IF we get a couple get everyone off sharpish.
Let's keep the atmosphere up

2 - 0 to Rotherham with 2 even more spawnier goals than the last, and we'll have at least one saved on the line by a popup mole - all this, just so the physical embodiment of universal chance and fortune can have a right good laugh at us one more time

This is the first home game I'm not attending and missing of the season as away on a ski trip so expect a big win with lots of goals 😂

I personally believe that Michael Carrick will send his team out totally prepared to beat Rotherham, but let’s face it, if Boro cannot beat a team which is bottom of the league and has only won 3 league games this season (even if 1 of the 3 wins was against us) then we do not deserve promotion.

It would be absolutely typical Boro to lose this 1 - 0.
It so would. We're all waiting for the run to happen, and this part of the season feels crucial somehow. It looked like we were laying down a marker when we won 7 on the trot or whatever after our bad start, but since then it's all been a bit stop-start. 12 league defeats already? One blip against Rotherham was understandable, Two would be undermining...
