Give me the facts that you have that contradict what I'm saying. Don't just tell me what you think because at the minute I'm struggling to take anything you say on the subject seriously due to your bias and obvious lack of knowledge on the oil and gas industry.
I worked in the oil industry for 15 years and, yes, I'm biased against it.

While there are still 1.5bn ICE cars on the road and we love plastic, rubber etc we might as well profit from it in some way.

Can't remember the full details as not at work at the minute but there's a conversion of an FPSO being carried out in Dubai. There'll be a permanent manned rig and an unmanned drilling rig planned. What a lot of people don't take into account with some of these works being carried out abroad is there's a lot of UK people employed on these projects. They bring their hard earned money back into the UK and spend it here. Its a shame that these projects can't be built here but it's not an entire loss to the economy.
Definitely not an unmanned drilling rig. I know the company who have the contract and it is not unmanned.

Shame I didn't invest in it. But that would have been insider trading. The contracts have been in place for months. Probably fuel to a lot ( carbon nuetral of course)but not my style.

Donā€™t be fooled by the southern wishy washy lefts telling you itā€™s bad for the climate. The developing countries are burning fossils ten fold. This is a fraction of their co2 releases.
The local economy (Teesside) depends on the O&G sector. The money in the renewables is just not there.
This is it in a biscuit form. There is no money or profitability in the renewable industry at the minute. If you don't invest in it the future of it. It is unsustainable but how do you invest in it without the money in the coffers? The money isn't there. So invest in fossil fuel (actually a zero investment and a massive gain) until you have the infrastructure and finances in place.

Well, I may be mistaken but there will be an unmanned platform plus a manned one. Also an FPSO. I work for the company who are building all 3. I'm on rotation due to norwegian labour laws so I'm off at the moment but I can give more accurate info when I'm back next week. Confidentiality laws will have to be taken into account. Only things that have been published. A lot of it hasn't in the UK by the way that is commen knowledge in Norway.

I was working for a Norwegian company until recently too. Thatā€™s why I know the drilling contractor is Norwegian. Theyā€™ve had the contract confirmed for a few months. I know the name of the rig planned to be used West of Shetland too.

Everybody knows the contractor is Norwegian though. Its no secret. Equinor paid for it with the highest bid. If you're talking about subcontractors their are many. Aker solutions I believe are the biggest. They have a large amount of the supply of products that are based in the uk

Aren't Equinor planning on using an FPSO that's already built and operating in the North Sea for Rosebank ?

Maybe short term, but as others have said, investing in renewables instead of giving more money to Norway's sovereign wealth fund is the way to go.

Long term energy security should be the goal. Not short term profiteering from an industry that destroys the planet
If I'm working it out right the UK would be looking at about Ā£18 Billion in tax revenue from Rosebank.
