My one hope for VAR, which I otherwise think is complete waste of time, is that it would put this rubbish to bed once and for all. Instead it's actively aiding and abetting the divers. You know when the ref goes to the screen that the slightest contact will be given as a penalty EVERY time.

An inch offside IS offside, that's a great use of technology because it isn't based on interpretation, it's a statement of fact. Where VAR has struggled is in how it is used to challenge penalties. Again it works well with the in or out of box decisions. But the was it wasn't it a penalty is a problem of interpretation. I would like to see something like the Tennis system where managers can challenge the decision so many times in a match, I would like in such cases for the decision to go to 3 ex-refs to look at and decide with a majority vote
