Can anyone advise if either of these streamers work with 5Ghz,and any recommendations?
Thanks

Both are 5ghz

Personally I prefer an nvidia shield pro with Ethernet so no reliance on burst technology wifi which is prone to interference, but depends what you're using it for. Netflix and iptv probably fine as they're both heavily compressed and don't use a lot

Cheers for that,I just need it for my old smart tv that doesn’t have Disney+,ITVx and some other apps.My main concern was the 5Ghz compatability.

Is this thread a sort of code?
Jeez I feel old and thick.
I know the feeling!I just want to plug in a little gadget that will let me play Disney+ on my tv,without having to invest in a new smart tv.The two streamers I mentioned are both around £30-£40,and look to be a low-cost solution (especially as I get Disney+ free from my bank). My concern is mainly that my Plusnet router is 5Ghz only, and I read somewhere that some lower cost streamers only work on 2.4Ghz.

5ghz only wifi would be fairly unusual given the range of 5ghz wifi is generally a single room or so?

I have two Roku sticks. They work pretty well streaming HD to two TVs, one close to the boggo Virgin Hub 5 and the other in an upstairs bedroom. When my son was staying with us we often had three or four devices streaming video over WiFi simultaneously with only a very occasional buffering freeze (like once in a few days). Other stuff was less reliable like Teams calls and I put a WiFi extender upstairs.

My only criticism of the Roku stick is that it uses its own Operating System (Android based I believe) and some apps are not available for it. Disney, Apple, Netflix, Prime, iPlayer, 4OD, ITVX are all available, the only one that causes me any sadness is Virgin TVGo which isn't on the platform annoyingly.

I'm leaning towards the Roku because I am not a fan of Amazon. Can the Roku receive updates as new apps come along,or do you only get what is available at the time you buy it?Sorry for silly questions, but this is all new to me.

Wait until amazon have a prime sale and buy the 4k or 4k max the last promotion they had the 4k for £30 and 4kmax for £40. I have the new 4k max and it works with wifi6 and the 4k attached to a bedroom tv. No issues at all with wifi streaming

Even if you don't need the 4k it is just much faster and makes navigating the menus much quicker.
