Rise of the Nazis

Few people taking the comparison literally. I don't think the conditions prevalent in society are identical to those in early 1930s Germany but I think there are parallels in how governing politicians act on both sides of the pond.

Divide and conquer
Suspicion and blame of "other"
Erosion of civil liberties

Add in the impending economic disaster (Covid/Brexit) and the conditions seem fertile to me.

These are common threads throughout history. I mean one is even from the Latin. If you think there are meaningful comparisons with the Nazis then surely you must believe we are about to see black people carted off in trains to gas chambers and an imminent invasion of Mexico. I can't see that happening.

Annexation and genocide are to the Nazis what being a robot and changing into a truck are to Optimus prime. And if some bloke is wearing a red t-shirt and wittering on about freedom, I'm going to need to see him change into a truck before I start comparing him to OP.

It's just simplifying things into good Vs evil. I'm in favour of Godwin's law being extended.
 
Trump is a conman, a liar and a fraud. Hopefully that’s all he is but I will not be surprised if he will try and usurp office even if he knows he has lost fairly. The truth is not important to him at all.

I don’t think he is political in the past he has given money to and supported the democrats.

My real fear is that after he is gone, hopefully in January either Eric or Ivanka will try and replace him in US politics and the cult will continue.

A century on, there is no reason to believe that the next Nazi rising should be a carbon copy of the last one and so it is even more important that we don't bury our heads in the sand and pretend it's not happening.

As is already shown on here, he has key advisers who are now telling him to impose marshall law if he loses. :censored:

Yet both set of lunatics are currently in power. They don't need a majority. They just need a big enough minority.

And currently they have it. Which is what's concerning.
 
The conditions in Spain and Italy weren’t the same as in Germany either, some are confusing nazi with fascist

I think you are ‘simplifying’ the position of those you are disagreeing with. It’s a straw man to compare the 1945 Nazi regime with the way the early 1930’s Nazi Party was viewed by not just the German people and institutions but many in this country. In any case no one is saying things are identical.
 
Democrats have tried to overthrow Trump several times during his tenure through political rhetoric and imposing their own fascist-style tactics through the CIA and the FBI (Russian collusion and the stupidity of the impeachment process) all failed. Asking god (which one?) for divine intervention might work lol.
