RIP Shane MacGowan

Ah sad news. Only last night I was listening to the Pogues while on the bike. Same again tonight I think. RIP.

I knew he'd been really poorly of late but had hoped that the news of him leaving hospital a week or so ago had been good news. Sadly, it now seems it was to spend his remaining few days at home in familiar surroundings with his loved ones.

A sad day.

RIP. A sad day indeed. I think we knew this was coming but it doesn't make it any easier.

Yep. Same thought process I've just had. Given his life, it's a minor miracle he lasted out until 65.

Such a brilliant songwriter. Rainy Night in Soho in particular, so beautiful.

I'm pleased I got to see him and the band, even if it was near the end of live performances at Stockton Weekender.

If the old adage of life being measured in what you do rather than the number of years lived, the guy was practically ancient.

He made Keith Richards seem like a church choir boy!

Just been a short tribute on R6 - they closed with Dirty Old Town. I was in bits.

Wonder what the Xmas Np1 will be this year?

Sorry to hear this. Loved his stuff with the Pogues to many great songs to list.

We sang this song just about every music lesson at school with a lovely teacher called Billy McClean RIP, who it was said, "was well loved but very limited teacher " Music and RE.
Billy left me with a love of these fantastic songs - Billy McClean on the piano.
He gave us a good grounding in traditional songs, Like - Jesse James, Kalinka, Football Crazy, Casey Jones, Irish Rover, Shanandoah, Down In the Valley.

My Favourite Pogues song was Dirty Old Town By James Miller Aka Ewan McCall. As far as I know It was about Manchester.

Fantastic song sung by a fantastic singer and frontman RIP Shane.

I thought he might have pulled through to be honest. RIP Fella

XMAS NUMBER ONE Guaranteed.. glad we're not having anymore of that Sausage Roll malarkey.. it was doing my head in.
