Riley McGree is a proper player

I am not sure we "allowed" Fulham to dominate in the first half, they played high up the pitch with bodies up front and quick passes which did leave us chasing the game a little.

As the game progressed, we ended up pushing them back and the players supporting Mitrovic had to drop back into midfield with our players. the game was a lot more even with us even shading the cutting edge chances.

We couldn't convert out chances whereas Mitovic converted his chance.

Had Jones been able to start, we might have posed more of a threat going forward. We did look pretty toothless and unsure how to break them down.

Saying that, Fulham are the runaway leaders of this league, so we didn't do too badly all things considering.
We let Fulham off the hook last night. I was unimpressed with them and thought they were less impressive than I expected.

McGree looks a good player that much is clear. Which place he takes will be interesting.
We have often had to play with out balance in a wing back system - and we have won often because of Jones' brilliance and his combination with Crooks.
You can't play wing backs without wing backs, it becomes 5-3-2 and that is what we had for the best part of an hour last night. The front end of the pitch is starved and it puts strain everywhere. IMHO Wilder got his starting 11 wrong in the wing back selection.
Bola and Jones looks a formidable wing back pairing to me. Surely Wilder must play that.
Who plays in the midfield two in front of Howson is now a question to be asked, given that McGree looks very good.

Just a thought to those saying crooks needs resting or dropping/rotating with Mcgree. Think it would be suicide to do that due to our complete lack of height elsewhere on the team. Only Fry out of the back three is 6ft+ and dominant aerially.
I think Crooks also has the huge advantage that he's our top scorer too, that almost guarantees him plenty of time on the pitch in itself.

Apart from the time Fry let Mitrovic walk off and head into the goal unchallenged, I though he handled the Fulham front man very well indeed.

Named and shamed by Wilder when talking about missed chances last night (only Coburn got excused because of his relative inexperience).

"Even Riley’s is a chance where he could slip Tav in for a tap in"

I can't recall that incident at all?

I agree, the manager wasn’t bold enough. I think he wanted to keep it tight from the off and not be overly adventurous getting caught ion the break by a very good Fulham team. The team selection indicates that to me despite what he said.

His second half switches worked a treat and we looked so much better. Young Josh missing a golden opportunity will be hurting but it will also be something that he can learn from. The defence switching off at the free kick was sickening, but Crooks has to cut out those types of tackles. He nearly always gets booked when doing so. Crooks looked slow and lethargic last night to me, as if he struggled to focus properly.

Must win on Saturday now.
It felt very similar to the Spurs performance. We seemed happy to allow Fulham to have the ball 1st half, with the focus on keeping our shape and getting to half-time at 0-0. Then we had a proper go in the 2nd half.

I'm wondering now whether Wilder had planned all along to start with Taylor and to bring Bola on 2nd half, to give us more of an attacking impetus.

The ball felt to him and he shot with his right foot instead of taking a touch and if he did probably would of seen Tav was open. We were snatching at things at the time rather than showing composure in the box
