Riley McGree is a proper player

Makes me cringe .. 'scores belters all the time' ... what in his sleep?

this song might need a re-work!
I’m a big fan of Riley mcgree….

Thought his performance versus West Brom won us the game but last night he looked rusty I thought and didn’t really have any impact but that’s understandable.

As well as that tav didn’t do well on the right so we lost his influence in the middle.
All that said, we did enough not to lose that game, a lack of belief lost us that game.

Well we've had our fair share of longterm injuries this year; it would be marvellous if when Jones recovers we could finally put out the team we've wanted to all season, but not been able to.
That would include Bola left, Jones right and McGree through the centre.

As no side in the playoffs would know how to cope with it as they quite simply wouldn't have faced it before. It would be akin to turning up to a gunfight with a satellite guided missile launcher at your disposal.

Just a touch of hyperbole perhaps……

I really do like the look of McGree though

Crooks needs pulling, I understand why he keeps getting his game but for a number of matches he's not been near. Riley needs some starts to get up to match speed, he showed some glimpse of class last night.

Nonsense saying it was a lack of belief Imho. I know Wilder touched on it but no. The first half we allowed Fulham to dominate, but in part that was due to the wing backs. but they created nothing of note, one Lumley save at the post. Second half we took the game to them. What cost us was nobody picking up Mitrovic. The entire team ball watched. They switched off, it was woeful. It was gifted. At the business end young Josh missed a sitter and Watmore blazed over. We did enough to win the game in truth, nowt to do with lack of belief.

Yep, think he looks a proper technician, something which has been missing from our midfield.

Always showing for the ball last night which is positive. It's early days though as I don't think he's had chance to build a proper understanding with those around him yet but once he does I think he'll excel.

I'd agree with that - definitely did enough to win it, three points dropped for me.

I thought Fulham's pressing and closing down was exceptional first half, only Coventry come close to them in our league. We struggle under pressure at times as there's a number of players in the side who aren't natural technicians, Pelts and Djiksteel stood out last night. One thing a Wilder team needs is excellent technique in every position to hold onto the ball, I don't think we're quite there yet.

A touch of it perhaps yes...😁

But it's also a fact that those 3 together represent probably the best attack platform outside of Fulham. Not only that but it's one that no side has faced yet so they wouldn't have a clue how to cope.

I think we could have been bolder in team selection though. Pelts and Taylor as wingbacks is always going to have more emphasis on the back rather than the wing element. We made it too easy for Fulham to take the initiative. I'd have started Bola or had Tav WB from the start. We didn't really have an out ball in the first half.

Reminds me a bit of Forshaw. Good technique, always looking for the ball, taking it on the half turn and moving the team forward. Just hope he can bring more end product than Forshaw did

Thought he looked very composed on the ball with some great touches and passes, always asking for the ball and moved around the whole pitch. I’d start him on Saturday instead of Crooks.

I agree, the manager wasn’t bold enough. I think he wanted to keep it tight from the off and not be overly adventurous getting caught ion the break by a very good Fulham team. The team selection indicates that to me despite what he said.

His second half switches worked a treat and we looked so much better. Young Josh missing a golden opportunity will be hurting but it will also be something that he can learn from. The defence switching off at the free kick was sickening, but Crooks has to cut out those types of tackles. He nearly always gets booked when doing so. Crooks looked slow and lethargic last night to me, as if he struggled to focus properly.

Must win on Saturday now.

Let`s face it, Boro had more than twice as many efforts on goal as Fulham and we did not score. We also missed a couple of sitters.
Just taking 1 of those chances against the top side in the Championship would have got us a point which we would have settled for.

Making Crooks a scapegoat is not what we want. We need players who put in his effort even though last night was not his best performance.

In the first half the team didn’t have the belief to take the game to Fulham and yet it was still boro who edged the first half and that was despite having two very defensive wing backs.
I think wilder picked Taylor and should’ve picked bola from the start imho.
Unsure why but bolas drive forward (as we seen 2nd half) would’ve helped the whole team in confidence and belief because we didn’t look decisive in our decisions first half and I thought it was because there wasn’t a way through down either wing with Taylor and understandably peltier down the right who was just looking to keep it tight and steady.
With Jones missing it upset our rhythm and bolas inclusion would’ve offered a better balance. Just my opinion.

I am not sure we "allowed" Fulham to dominate in the first half, they played high up the pitch with bodies up front and quick passes which did leave us chasing the game a little.

As the game progressed, we ended up pushing them back and the players supporting Mitrovic had to drop back into midfield with our players. the game was a lot more even with us even shading the cutting edge chances.

We couldn't convert out chances whereas Mitovic converted his chance.

Had Jones been able to start, we might have posed more of a threat going forward. We did look pretty toothless and unsure how to break them down.

Saying that, Fulham are the runaway leaders of this league, so we didn't do too badly all things considering.

Liked it yesterday when he got booked. Took one to stop an attack rather than just watch the player go past.
