Richard Keogh, intresting read.

Derby could not have took good legal advice before the dismissal.... usually companies have HR insurance and before dismissals they seek Approval ....

What an utter 5hit Morris really is. It was blindingly obvious at the time that Keogh was sacked purely on a financial basis, his only fault being failure to fit a seat belt whilst being driven by a team mate who subsequently was proved to be drunk.

At worst, he was stupid for not putting on his seat belt. In contrast, Lawrence committed two criminal acts. Add to that, the fact he left a team mate, collegue, other human, behind with no regard for his safety shows the measure of Lawrence as a person.

Hmmm while it’s clear derby saw an opportunity to wriggle out of an expensive contract, there is also fault with Keogh. He knew the younger players were battered and rather than advise them against getting behind the wheel, he jumped in himself and, as a result, caused himself a long term injury. Some balance needed here!

He actually comes across as a decent fella, also he said he believed the driver was sober, his teammates don't come out of this very well, how could they leave him, and the two unamed players who were they ?

Derbys decision to sack him was a financial one, not a moral one, no doubt driven by the need to cut costs as they began to realise how much they were in trouble.

Mel Morris has a lot to answer for and goes to show that the rich owners to be worried about don't always come from overseas.

Intresting read about his treatment by Derby. 2 other unnamed players also left the scene of the accident.

As much as he seems like a calimity of a player and fans (other than Derby) don't rate him, it was disgusting how he was treated compared to Lawrence and Bennett, especially as he was a great serve to the club.

Thanks for posting the article.
I had always thought that Keogh had been treated appallingly by Derby and that article confirms my beliefs.

The fact that he seems to hold no grudge against Derby and/ or Morris is a sign that he's a better human being than me.

£24k a week is an extraordinary amount for such an ordinary player. every time i watched him there was some major mistake.

Maybe controversial but any moralising by football clubs is always based on financial reasons.

It’s the most cut-throat, meritocratic industry imaginable with huge sums of money at play. I think if they were given the choice a football club would forgive absolutely anyone and any crime, unless they were a negative financial asset.

I mean imagine any club ever cancelling the contract of a 23 year old Lionel Messi for bad behaviour.
