Revisiting old LPs

Was it Renaissance that did Northern Lights ?
Yup, that's them
I still think ‘Yes Songs’ precipitated the rise rise of punk
"Yessongs" was a double live album released in 1973, perhaps the honourable gentleman is referring to "Tales from Topographic Oceans" which was indeed a double concept album of four twenty odd minute "pieces" also released in 1973, so I think to suggest either album precipitated punk is rather stretching the narrative. TfTO or as Rick Wakeman dubbed it "Toby's Graphic Go-Karts" was a good example of a band getting too much control of their output, there was enough good music for a single album but no one told them when to stop.

And to say it somehow "prevented" the quadruple concept album is rather unlikely, indeed did not those Punk icons The Clash subsequently release a triple album that might be termed "thematically linked" in 1980?

Obviously, not listening to LPs, but whilst away I tend to drag a lot of my old stuff up on Spotify. Yesterday it was The Travelling Wilbury’s, today it is a compilation of Sounds of Summer. That’s thrown up some great tracks.

Regarding Glitter and others, I think it's OK to appreciate the music while abhorring the man.
Kings of the Wild Frontier gets a regular airing in my vehicles 👍
Does that mean we can still marvel in Mark Page's DJing prowess or Jimmy Savile's charity fund raising exploits?

There will never be anything to appreciate a paedophile for past, present or future.

Thank you Muttley for the impeccably polite and informed correction. I’ve always struggled with Yes, although I do have (somewhere) a couple of Rick Wakeman’s solo albums, one of which features Bill Oddie on vocals…
At the age of 14 , I desperately wanted to like Yes, as my peer group composed encomiums to ‘Close to the Edge’, but my brain refused to acknowledge its brilliance.

Speaking of Renaissance: I'm an old punk who wants to kick over dustbins whenever he hears "New Rose" by the Damned. But I've also got the entire Renaissance back catalogue AND a Rick Wakeman concept album. Go figure.

Is it ‘Rick Wakeman’s Criminal Record’, by any chance?

Having most of the prog records mentioned so far I feel I should also mention The Moody Blues and there contribution to the prog genre. Days Of Future Past being my favourite of all time. I play the album every two or three months just for a fix of the album version of Night In White Satin.

massive 77 punk listener - Stranglers, Pistols, Clash - usual stuff then can settle down and get lost in Leonard Cohen and Cat Stevens with a dose of early Don Mclean chucked in .....

'Hammered Kings Of The Wild Frontier to death over the last few days in the car.'
Yeah I can still listen to that album as fresh. And See Jungle.. by Bowwowow. Both classics
I used to love KOTWF back in the day, but weirdly I think the earlier Dirk Wears White Sox era stuff has aged better than anything that came afterwards.
