Referee

We've had some shocking individual decisions from refs over the past few seasons, which we'll obviously focus on, but he was dreadful throughout the entire match tonight.

It's rare you see a ref loudly booed off the pitch in both halves when he's ultimately not actually made a decision that's cost us the match.

He, and his team, are just another in a long line of really poor officials that are refereeing in the championship.

Something really needs to be done to raise the profile of referees so competent people choose to do it. Whether that is paying a much better salary or something else I don't know but the standard, even at the very top level is criminally low. There are 1000s of aspiring footballers that fail to make the grade. We should be encouraging them to take other roles in the game, including referees instead of wasting all the things they have learnt along the way being involved in the game.

Yes McNair stood behind the wall, and deliberately impeded the West Brom player who would have closed Jones run. It was a clear plan at our set play
The only decision he got right all night

Respectfully disagree that that's a correct decision. Thank you for the explanation though. I'll go back and watch it again.

I've seen some awful referees at the Riverside but tonights referee is definately in my top 5. There are questions that need answering about his performance and the many questionable decisions he made. Luckily he didnt cost us a win.
Awful is an understatemen
