Ref again — tackle on Latte

Their forum were all in agreement that they should have been down to 10 for the foul and a hand ball for 2 penas. Thanking that VAR had a day off.

They wouldn’t have mentioned it. Fouls don’t count when you’ve already managed to shoot, it seems. Said it for years. It’s mental.

I started to count the number of fouls given after a player got clattered just after releasing the ball - at least 7
All outside the box

Is Riverside not setup for VAR yet ?

It was, we used it against Chelsea in 2022, but for some reason we've now decided we can't.

Whether that's because of changes to VAR, I'm not sure, but it's odd.

Hoping it doesn't cost us in the 2nd leg.

Strange commentary yesterday, seemingly there's a higher bar to give fouls to us.

A few times, including the one on LL, it was "contact, but not enough to wipe him out so no foul".

The strangest one that got totally ignored was at the end when Crooks got dragged down by his neck, ref waved play on
Yeah that one and Hackney getting wiped out right in front of the assistant and neither him or the referee gave it.

Josh was fouled all night and didn't get anything.
It would have only taken the ref giving 2 or 3 of them against thiago on Josh and it would have changed the dynamic of the game because he would have had to find a different way to defend him.

May have been some penalties, may have been some cards, but I'll take that every day rather than have VAR ruining the flow of the game (as it's being used now, not the principle of it overruling clear and obvious errors)

Like Saturday, I thought the game had a great flow to it and personally I like the "robust" challenges

Just as a side note, we didn’t commit a single foul in the 2nd half. Not sure what that means other than how disciplined we were and didn’t go diving in.

That is an amazing stat and one that makes me convinced that Carrick will be England manager in the not too distant future.
