Redcar MP Jacob Young says 'Tory cuts' haircut tweet a joke

TBH I don't really see a problem with him tweeting that. Harmless play on words by someone who wasn't an MP during the austerity era anyway. It seems a bit ridiculous to take umbrage at the mention of "tory cuts" as offensive to a town that's elected it's first ever tory MP right after those cuts.

He was out on Saturday promoting various business that had opened. I seen he was in the vault in marske and ogradys in Redcar. He was promoting the barbers/hairdressers that cut his hair too but all that goes unmentioned.

Majority of comments on gazette Facebook site thought it was a pointless story so I think the majority didn’t take offence

Get over yourselves, it's not offensive at all, sick of seeing, reading daily posts on here point scoring etc of look what him & her have said, or done, but FHS it's tongue in cheek nothing more

Well hadn't seen that hence my post above.

He is a good bloke.
Really?

Oh and welcome to the board.

Don't know anything about him. Bit of a storm in a teacup really, he was just trying to make a joke and in modern society people are looking at politicians and judging them according to which side they are on and taking offence as they deem appropriate, which considering the complete ars**ole we have elected PM is more than a little ironic.

A good friend of mine used to teach Jacob Young and says he was a lovely lad.

People shouldn't go over the top about a joke, but it was a misjudgment for him to tweet it. It's a bit tone deaf.

"Welcome to the board"? Been a member for a few decades now. But thanks anyway.>

What was far worse was for Young to block his constituents who responded critically, but not abusively, to the tweet which he later removed anyway.
