We already move hydrogen around Teesside through pipelines. How do we do this now?

There's a world of difference between local process H2 pipelines and a new NTS.

Hydrogen is a diversion tactic. An Oil and gas industry funded unicorn to try and tie people up with spin and false hope on unworkable things that will never get delivered because they are ultimately seriously flawed.

because it helps the oil and gas industry keep ticking over ... its an excellent return on investment for them

I don't understand why the techniques for building a short pipeline are different to building a long one but David Hughes who is professor of low carbon materials at Teesside Uni says that they can also use existing gas lines to transport Hydrogen.

I work for a renewables development company and the idea is that spare or cheap Green power can be used to produce the hydrogen. We are seriously looking at positioning hydrogen plants on our wind farms. Whether that is possible or not remains to be seen but I think it will come eventually as part of the renewables ‘mix’ but it is a long way off though, very early stages. You have to remember that 15 to 20 years ago when we were putting up the early wind turbines I had mates asking me if they could boil a kettle.

And you don't understand the difference between a process pipelines and a Transmission pipelines.

David Hughes does plastics FFS. Plastic is OK for LP H2 distribution but no good for Transmission.

Gas Companies are moving away from repurposing. For several technical reasons I can't be arsed to explain.

Why are they looking at 2000+km of new H2 Transmission Pipelines if we have a system in place already? Because the old ones aren't suitable.
