Redcar beach

Redcar beach, far away in time....

Great for dogs, as is the South Gare bit according to my sis in law.

I tend to drive to South Gare and walk toward the town from there, it is less crowded and if your mutt like mine gets a bit silly around horses you don't get the gee-gees up there. I just wish people didn't think that the poop bag fairy would take away the bags'o'shight that they leave at the foot of the steps. Take it with you please. And if the tide is out you can go on Bran sands which is usually very quiet apart from the odd kite surfer.

I think that the mass crab deaths have been put down to de-oxygenation, they suffocated. Probably some pollutant that had a side effect of removing the oxygen from the water and suffocated the crabs hence no toxins found in the crabs? As far as I have heard there have been no stories of poorly pooches for several months and both North and South Gare beaches are once more very popular with dog owners.

I was one of the first to say it wasn't too clever down there after seeing all the dead birds, crabs and lobsters. I stopped taking the dogs down the Gare for a while but have had them back on there the last few months.

I'm with Muttley on this, take your poo bags home with you, it is not hard.

If the wind is from Redcar that walk is hard work.

I thought they'd put it down to dredging works at Teesworks? This was then in turn denied by them, but they would do that.

Don't think it was Teesport related. PD Ports are the statutory body for the Tees and dredge pretty much all year. If anything, it would have been related to Teesworks.

There was by all accounts nothing specific about the beaches that was causing illness, it was purely down to the volume of dogs you get there causing it to be more likely to be contracted.

In Epping forest near me people tend to leave poo bags hanging on trees, Looks very Christmassy in the winter with a layer of frost on poo bags, reminds you what Christmas is all about- crap gifts, wrapped up, which nobody needs left around a tree. 😂
They do the same round here up Cliff Rig woods and the surrounding walks nearby. The farmer who owns suggits field also quite often had to warn dog owners who think every field is theirs to wander around in to keep their dogs on a lead when he's got sheep and lambs in the field as if the dogs attack or hassle them he'll legally destroy the dog.
