Red? Wow.

A vicious high 2 footed tackle in last night's Swansea Forest game, not even a booking!

Was watching the Fulham game last night and Loftus-Cheek made a tackle worse than McNair's and only got a yellow so the VAR was happy with it, bodes well for our appeal.

It's different using var (and 20 cameras) to overturn a refs decision or something missed, than to switching a championship ref/ lino given red to a yellow/ nothing post-game.

They probably need fully conclusive evidence that it's definitely not the decision the ref gave (or in this case the lino), I think that's asking a lot, without tons of good cameras.

It's getting to the point where they need to rewrite the rules, if these appeals are going to keep succeeding. That was textbook serious foul play under the definition as it's been for years. If football as a whole is happy with that sort of tackle then the rules need to keep up.

And also, I think these panels (much as with VAR) should really only correct absolute howlers, because essentially what this does is undermine refereeing done by humans at normal speed. And empowers "the likes of Warnock" to keep screaming at officials.

have you ever played football

As expected, the appeal was successful. Still images don't give an accurate picture of what happened and can be used to prove either side. He had lost control of the ball and the lunge was at the ball, not the player.

The appeal was the right thing to do and the outcome was the correct outcome.

Have to say I'm shocked but delighted at this. As Buddy says it undermines the referee completely. Whatever happened to not re-refereeing games.

I'd love to see the full explanation as to why it was rescinded but I don't suppose that will happen.
