Recruitment Team

So did Nathan Wood. A full season of games later and he’s regularly being linked with top Premier league teams.
Who are these teams? And which one has he signed for? Because it seems to me like he has an agent doing quite a lot of the legwork with him, which makes me think that’s the reason the Boro got rid of one of someone many of the coaching staff expected to make the step into our first team.

At what point do they become accountable.

At the end of the transfer window. We'll be able to actually judge how well they did around November time.

3 weeks ago, there were plenty of posts saying how impressed fans had been, not only by who we were bringing in, but by how we were going about business.

I think a lot of that praise was assuming a left back and at least one striker would be coming in. These will still happen.
The only thing that has become certain is that Giles won't be the left back. While he brought a lot of positives, there were some major negatives to his game too. While I'd like to have had him, I'm not devastated that we didn't.

At what point do they become accountable. The manager isn’t making the signings, I know we’re told everyone is aligned. But if you take archer and Ramsey out of the picture, what is this recruitment aiming for, and what’s been a success so far

Hoppe ??

It’s ok blaming the head coach when after Millwall and a few more games we’re still on zero points. He’s putting players together selected by the recruitment muppets ??

Maybe Forss as a positive

What about the rest ??

At what do the public relations come accountable rolling out digital tickets 8’days before the start of the season. Sack them all.

The recruitment team have made some incredible signings over the last two years. You have to bear in mind we have came late to the Moneyball concept around the same time that everyone else has started doing it. For us to still continually improve our squad with players full of potential is a massive plus, and we’ve had a really positive summer.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that every club in our position, every season, is in a position where they’re trying to find a 20 goal a season forward, and often bank on that alone to propel them to success. The signings we’ve made have actually given us a plan B and have filled the squad with permanent depth. It’s a long term approach, and I hope Boro fans are patient because unfortunately it is nothing like our signing policy was pre-2021, it requires time and backing to have those long term payoffs.

Hello Crackers/Shed Head/Lisburn

The negativity from some fans is laughable. The same fans will have been writing Akpom off last season.

We've spent 12 years out of the last 13 in the championship because we've consistently overspent on players who haven't been good enough... Assombalonga, Fletcher, Rhodes, etc...

Wilder wanted to do exactly the same last season with the likes of Dwight Gayle.

We've finally turned a corner in recruitment and in my opinion, we're making better decisions on signings...

Alex Gilbert was captain of Brentford B - one of the best academies in the country outside the top six - He's only 21 and we got him on a free transfer.

Rav Van Den Berg was scouted by top teams in Europe - including Liverpool and Roma - 19 years old and we signed him on a 4 year deal.

Morgan Rogers is still only 20 years old and highly rated by Blackpool fans last season (fans who have actually seen him play competitively - outside of a preseason).

They're all young, exciting, low risk signings will sell-on value to hopefully move us forward long term. Most championship clubs have started following the same business model too (inc. Sunderland).
Majority of the negativity is due to the fact we have no senior striker left back and starting the season far weaker than we should, the signings so far could turn out to be brilliant have to wait and see

The team has improved from 52 points? to 62points? to 70 points to 75 points in the period 2020 to 2023.

The recruitment team has to take some credit for those improvements, particularly the two last seasons.

McGree looks a good buy for what we paid.

plus Crooks, Watmore, Morsy, Lenihan, Jones, Smith, Forss, Akpom all successful permanent buys in the last 2/3 years

I’m not too sure why everyone is getting so edgy going into this season? If you look at the core of the team it looks very healthy, especially Carrick’s playing philosophy I’m very happy with the state of things.

I think we all know that Akpom will be gone soon and maybe for a good fee, which could give us a chance to recruit more younger players.

Not that I’d want to compare us to Spurs, but they also are looking set to sell off their most prized asset in Harry Kane. Sometimes you need to sell to build the squad and plan for the future.

When I look back at the way the club has been mismanaged in the past this is probably the first time in a while when I can say I’m back on board with the management.

Granted the academies probably need to also be ripped apart as they don’t seem to be getting the job done, but all starts from the top as the say and so far I very much like what I’m seeing and hearing.

You can't really add Archer, Ramsey, Rogers and Gilbert to the recruitment list as all have stated that Danks was the reason that they came to the club.

We do need a CF and a LB, but people are complaining that we haven't signed a replacement for Archer when Archer didn't come until January... when we were already 4th in the league.

We still have 5 potential loans to come in. I'd rather we waited a few weeks and got the right players over the line than rush into signing someone before Millwall.

I think McNair and akpom will be sold and until they are we cannot buy. Akpoms injury has probably delayed any potential moves until he can prove his fitness.
I think the loan against the Tav money has given us some leeway, but we weren't going to blow it all on Giles, especially with the terms of the deal that Wolves wanted with Luton.

There is recruitment stuff going on behind the scenes, daily, which none of us have any clue about whatsoever. None. Complete social media silence.

Things change constantly, for all we know deals have fallen through or we have been used by players/agents to get better deals elsewhere.

We may have 2-3-4 deals lined up, just waiting on the selling clubs to sort other deals out. And they are waiting for clubs doing similar.......

Let's see where we are 1st September.......42 league games to go.

It seems the club has been a victim of players' success. With Archer, Giles and Ramsey we've paid loan fees; improved and showcased them to such an extent that were unable to afford their return.

With Akpom, by January he was scoring goals and had 18 months remaining on his contract. It was the ideal time to extend his contract but the club was between a rock and a hard place.

Now it appears that we don't have the money to either spend on transfer fees, loan fees or improving Akpom's contract.

Sad to say it but there's a long and difficult season ahead 😕

Lumley, Payero, Barlaser, Hoppe, Ikpeazu, Ameobi, Luongo, how much have this collection of clowns cost us in fees and wages over the last 2 seasons?

It’s not difficult to identify decent loan players, the only question is availability.

But again we’re going into a season with a squad that’s not ready for the season as we’re relying on yet to identified loan players to bail us out. The permanent signings need to be better.

I really hope the recruitment team will have shown their worth when the the transfer window closes…..
