Recruitment Promises

We were told in the build up to the transfer deadline that planning for departures and replacements was done and that the club were ready for all eventualities yet it seems that that wasn’t the case. Surely we would have known the cost of the Armstrong’s, the Morton’s and the status of the Smallbones well in advance if this was the case. It all strikes of last minute panicking again and I won’t believe a word that comes out of Carricks mouth on this issue in the future

I wish they'd stop fûckīng around and just make the 'window' five working days to complete a medical and sign the paperwork, and register the player.

The summer one should shut before the league season kicks off from League 2 up too.
It is time they stopped the January transfer window. You pick your squad in the summer and that's what you go with for the season.

Thoughts and prayers.

This is what we do, how we operate now. If a big offer comes in and the player/agent wants away we sell. On the subject of knowing how much a player at another club costs, this isn't Football Manager. There isn't a catalogue circulated between clubs, you enquire, make an offer, etc.

I too would like either transfers can be made at any point upto the last six weeks of the season (something like that) or only in the closed season. But since when did the opinion and preferences of fans matter...

You forgot to add that the price tag changes if the selling club knows the buying club has funds.

My point is that the club assured us that plans were in place for every eventuality- evidently not
Surely you understand that the goalposts move and not everything is guaranteed. Other teams can come in a gazump you, @Muttley posts explain other issues that can impact both buying and selling and the player and agents demands.

We refuse to pay over the odds for players, we've been down that road with Monk and it set us back years.

GK Aleksandr Selikhov - West Brom lost their keeper late in the window. Not sure what the crack is when it comes to Russian players now.. is there an embargo or restrictions or something.

RB Timothy Fosu-Mensah - still think this is gonna happen.. seems like a no brainier

DM Daniel Amartey - offered to a club in Cyprus this week.. wage demands were too high and now looking at French & MLS clubs.

DM Alexis Beka Beka - looking for a new club.. would be very surprised if we hadn’t made enquiries tbh

THE FLIGHTS I TELLS YERS!!
Dortmund & Nice..

Squad number 2 & 5 available..
24 will be free if Bangura hasn’t been registered.. favoured by Fosu-Mensah in the past.. Beka Beka stared his career wearing number 33

Tommy Smith <> Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Matt Clarke <> Alexis Beka Beka

IF that happened I don’t think anyone could complain.. an entire overhaul of half the squad..11 players.. in January.. for next no outlay.. coming out of it significantly financially better off.. huge improvements over every single position.

You’d have to take your hat off.

Too many people take the clubs word as gospel in the same way they do with politics. Bias and power influences views, minds are like statues sadly.

They were weren't they? We sold ELL and brought in Iheanacho. Dieng and Brynn injured and brought in Travers. All other signings were additions to the squad not replacements.

Armstrong it seems was offered last minute. Smallbone and Morton were allegedly looked at as additions too not replacements. Testing the water to see if we can improve the squad.

all replacements as far as I can see..

Travers <> Dieng
Edmunson <> Clarke
Giles <> Engel
Whittaker <> Jones
Palmer <> Hamilton
Iling-Junior <> Gilbert
Iheanacho <> Latte Lath

Smallbone/Morton was to be a replacement for Barlaser.. I do think it would be worthwhile bringing in Alexis Beka Beka as we are still lacking another defensive midfielder in the squad.. if Lenihan is not looking likely to complete this season then I would rather have someone in with a chance of contributing.

Similar to waiting on Tommy Smith.. I would like to see us take a chance on Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

With Sol Brynn and Seny Dieng looking likely to miss the rest of the season perhaps there is something we can do there? Lukas Engel’s move has not yet been completed.. and one other?

If I had a pound for every time you said the words Beka Beka, I reckon I could have bought Morton myself!

Doubt it, we might have had our own view on what they might without formal discussion who knows
