Really strong spine next season

If this is Clarke hitting form, I would hate to see him perform during a bad spell. 🤣 🤣 🤣
Fry couldn’t lace Clarke boots.
Clarke is a much better footballer and is more aggressive for a centre back.
You mean being part of a team that has lost once in 12 games and getting nominated for March player of the month? We onabout the same playe

Clarke & RVB to start first game. I think we could do with a loan player with pace as an alternative.

Central defence is a bit of a head scratcher for Carrick once injuries are not an issue.

Clarke, VDB, Lenihan, Fry and McNair (who I assume will leave).
No head scratcher soon , Lenahan and Mcnair are going , so the in the knows on one Boro say , which leaves VDB , Clarke , and Fry as back up, along with J Wilson who came on yesterday.

I’d be surprised if Lenihan goes but it will make sense financially.

I think this year that was down to who he was playing at the back with (i.e fry, coulson and mcnair), he's the best out of all of them considerably. RVDB played a couple of games with him too, as well as Engel, but neither of those really hit the ground running either. Also, beginning of the year we were all over the place with what was going on in front of him, had a lot of changes etc.

So, for all of that, and where we were shipping goals, it's more correlation not causation for me etc.

We were more solid at the back last year, probably even with a worse defence than what we ended up with this year. I think if you add him in there, then we will just be better all over the pitch as he's as good or better than the rest, and he is probably the best captain/ organiser when we're a settled side.
I think Lenihan is really good, but we let a lot of goals in with him playing both last season and this season. And he personally started the season poorly before injury.

But - I think we have overall improved our organisation.

Will be interesting to see how we go next year.

Yeah, like I say, I think that's more correlation than causation. I don't think he stood out as being poor, I'd say it was quite the opposite compared to the rest. The whole team didn't quite know what it was doing and you defend from the front. Doesn't take much going wrong in midfield or even up front to make the defence look bad.

See how he comes back from his injury though, as seems like it was a bad one, either that or we've just known we've had good other players to come in, so we can take it easy with Lenihan. Injuries like his are always carry a big risk of coming back too soon.

I'm happy with the choice of Lenihan, Clarke, RVDB and Fry though, even the one or two which don't make the side would likely get in pretty much every other side one way or another.
