Ray Clemence RIP

He always came across a great person. I preferred the taller clemence to shilton for england especially as shilton must have amongst the worst records at saving penalties ever. Great keeper and thoroughly decent bloke

It seems everyweek there is a 60s or 70s footballing legend passing away. Icons of the game from many of our childhoods. I have more affinity with these guys than most modern players
Well yes.The world was all black and white in the 50s.Because of rationing.

My son chuckled when the news shows RC making a save, my son laughed & said, as if keepers didn't wear gloves, I told him Platt hardly ever wore gloves, but yes definitely RC was an icon

That's really sad. I played in goal when I was young. He was a bloody great keeper and a childhood hero. RIP Ray.

He can't have seen it coming,
it must have snuck in quick,
swerving from the corner flag,
sneaking between the sticks.

The keeper who had everything,
with talent and grace sublime,
let down badly by the ref
who refused him extra time.
