Rashford

to be honest he was shocking first half could barely control a ball or pass it to a team mate. If Wales weren't so poor he could have been hooked at half time. Second half he improved on the right and foden improved on the left.

I thought the keeper was poor for the goals but if you dont shoot you dont score.

I didn’t realise you had rules I needed to follow. For the record, I think Rashford is a superb social campaigner and a bang-average footballer. It’s a vicious trait of this forum that everything has to pivot to political and social commentary ASAP.
Rashford isn't consistent, he can be world. class or be ineffective let's hope he can maintain the higher standards further into the world cup we go., You are just looking at his performances
elsewhere and wrongly working out an assessment of "Bang Average" , Southgate called it right last night probably because he's watching him in training and observing his body language around the team. You are right the press are fawning over him but then they have always had one player who they like to do that too, David Beckham was an example, you could also say he was Bang Average, so why are you getting worked up over the Social Campaigner Marcus Rashford?

Fair enough. Apologies that I implied that was your motive.

It just seemed like such an inexplicably weird and unwarranted thread to start this morning to me. But there you go, everyone is entitled to their opinion..

This was the first half stats.

We dominated them without creating a lot (other than Rashford's 1v1 and the Foden chance after some excellent build up work).

I’m not getting worked up. I’m commenting on a topical sports story. If people are suggesting Rashford’s performance was world class last night (I’m not saying you are), I’d claim that is hyperbolic.

That’s mature of you pal. I appreciate it. Life is all about opinions. My ire is directed at the overreaction. I have no issue with Rashford. He can’t help being an average footballer.

Football is a "Team" game.
I`m really glad that Marcus Rashford is "bang average" and only turned up for 45 minutes last night.
He did score 2 out of 3 England goals last night.
Just imagine how many he would score if he was above "bang average" and turned up for the full 90?!!(y)

If we are going to be pedantic and nit-picking - where was Kane last night?
Is he less than "bang average"?
He didnt score last night did he?

Incredibly insightful stuff.

I'm shocked that England's media would focus positively on the player who scored two goals to send England to the knockouts of the World Cup.

They should have been interviewing and covering Pickford after the match.

I don't understand what any England fan could be angry about this morning but there you go.

And the 'average footballer' thing has already been responded to so I won't add to it.
