Rashford

I too thought he had a poor first half, at least in terms of end product.

I was really impressed by his confidence (as stupid as that sounds about an international footballer). He wanted the ball and seemed determined to prove a point.

Fair play to him and the second half performance, and credit where it's due to Gareth for keeping him on.

Can’t argue with being tournament joint top scorer and was a stunning free kick.

I like Rashford, as you say his confidence never changes. Since Kane ain’t scoring goals have to come from somewhere else, so great that he’s stepping up and probably won himself a place where otherwise he wouldn’t have.

He’s not a number 9, way more natural cutting in from the left or right - which is Sterling’s position, but Raz looks right off form. At the moment I’d start Rashford over him for sure.

And, great guy, goes without saying. Calm and switched on. Has the moves like Mbappe but doesn’t have the absolute killer instinct in front of goal, but still an outstanding footballer who scores in bursts. I’d go Rash - Kane - Saka for the knockouts.

Predictable fawning in the media today. In my opinion, he was absolutely shocking in the first half. He scored a decent free kick, ran about a bit and got a fortunate second.

Don’t believe the hype.

Hes the top scorer at the world's biggest tournament, of any sport. He was man of the match last night. There's no hype.
Quite why anyone would think to themselves after last night, "what I should do this morning is start a negative thread about social justice campaigner Marcus Rashford", is beyond me.
Actually I think i may have solved the mystery..

I am disgusted at what you are implying. You should be ashamed of yourself. You don’t even have the balls to come out and say it.

He's been much better this season and played well last night. I don't think he should start simply because I think we have better options. Nice to be able to bring players that can change the game off the bench though. We have some good depth at the attacking midfield positions.

If we are playing against a team that is going to sit really deep then I think players like Foden and Grealish are better options. Against teams where we will be playing on the break then Rashford and Sterling might be better.

Against teams like Wales is irrelevant now. They're all good options against that calibre of team. They are awful and we won't be playing anyone as poor as that in the rest of the tournament.

Saka could fit in either group and is probably the best option in the right.

You've posted nothing about England in the World Cup. Then bizarrely you wake up this morning after a good England performance and decide to throw shade on the performance of one player who scored two great goals.

I didn’t realise you had rules I needed to follow. For the record, I think Rashford is a superb social campaigner and a bang-average footballer. It’s a vicious trait of this forum that everything has to pivot to political and social commentary ASAP.

I’d trawl your posting history to score cheap points but I think you blocked it after you denied claims of bullying and a multitude of posters provided evidence to the contrary.

1) I didn't need to trawl your posting history to know that today was the first time you'd posted about England in the World Cup.

2) My posting history has always been private.

3) I have never 'bullied' anyone on this board or be accused of bullying. I've been hypocritical, yes. I've criticised others for posting in an antagonistic style then had it pointed out to me that I've done the self-same thing, yes. But never bullying.
