Rachel Reeves - no wealth tax

Starmer is sh.it scared of upsetting centre-right. He will follow Blair's tory-lite system to get in power.
Personally, I do not believe they will then go further left when in power. I do not have faith that Starmer is a socialist. Labour is a socialist party. Taxing the rich and windfall taxes should be used to offset the scandalous gap between rich and poor. Then there's the NHS, policing, education........

I mean it should be really simple if we lived in any form of democracy.

Anyone's assets over 10 million take a 1% hair cut, if you leave the country just take the assets left behind to the tune of 1%.

Fix the 100-120k tax nightmare and just whack a massive 70% tax on anything earned over 200k a year.

Any company operating in the UK has to be set up here either as headquartered or point of transaction.

Assets/Income derived at point of transaction or point of agreed sale if sale agreed in UK and transaction occurs overseas.

Finally any trusts are taxed at the exact same rate as everywhere else.

Then lower rates for anyone under 100k to 35%, under 60k 20%.

You were close, but lost it at the end.

To be fair... I thought about it for 45 seconds whilst typing it out. The initial numbers can be tweaked but my point is, if any idiot can think this up in that time. There is no excuse for the government that is meant to serve the people to not be able to do it.

Labour are a shell of a party, I don't think I've ever seen democracy in my 35 years or so on this island.

It really is frustrating. The Tories have literally no chance of an election result, you could put a dog up there and the result would be even wider that's how bad things are.
It's sad knowing that a 'centre right' or whatever they want to call themselves version of Labour will re write history post victory to banish Social Democratic policy for a generation

We already have a wealth tax. It's called inheritance tax.
And how much of it do you think is collected from the wealthy?

Just look at the utter farce around the £4Bn tax liability that was avoided by the Duke of Westminster.

The wealthy have long shown that they aren't willing to pay back into the society that allowed them to accrue their riches. A direct tax on wealth that can't be avoided is the only sensible option.

I cant help but hope once starmer gets in its not long before these declarations are ditched along with him and reeeves by his own party. I imagine angela raynor is not happy to go along with a free tax pass for UKs most wealthy

I'm a member and I'm disappointed - of course I am. That said, when you haven't yet set your policy for the manifesto and you're asked a direct question, yes or no, it's difficult. there are lots of different ways to tax wealth and privilege and Labour has some of those, all be they modest. I have to believe we'll win power and be bold and transformative and I'm scarred by times we promised to do this or that but lost.
Just get the Tories out by voting for whoever can beat them - please.
