In what way is Beckham standing in a queue for 12 hours, dressed in a low profile way with a hat pulled down, to pay his respects to a monarch he must have personally met multiple times, all about him?People have collapsed with exhaustion and dehydration, the elderly and disabled are at risk also standing with no sleep for up to 24 hours. A man sexually assaulted two women before jumping into the Thames. Then, David Beckham turns up in the queue! Thankfully without his pouting wife who would have looked suitably solemn for the occasion, no doubt.
Good for him in one way and yet it made me think, is there anything he doesn't involve himself in? His face is just about everywhere. Its all about him. I hope it has been a positive distraction for the many people queuing and was done with the best of intentions. Sorry, I know I'm an old cynic. Forgive me.

Is the guy not allowed to pay his respects? I can’t think of him doing anything less ‘all about him’.
I love dark humour. Years ago I was going off work for a major op on my neck, they go in from the front. People in the office found it hard/awkward to look me in the eye before I went off, I understand. A girl I knew in accounts came down and gave me a pack of straws as a present before I left - brilliant . No doubt that would get peltres these days too. Thanks, that's reassured me. I am though conscious of dark humour not being welcomed by all and on reflection it was maybe not a good comparison to make.
He has had very little time to actually grieve too, and that will take a tollCharles looks absolutely exhausted when you think of his age standing for hours is not an easy thing
That first bit haha, I hear you........Sorry.
I would queue just to make sure it is my ex wife in the coffin!!! Just a joke, sorry again for any offence caused. 'Dark humour' is cathartic in times of death and sadness and a positive coping mechanism. Soldiers used it often during the wars to help them get through the trauma of it all.
Would it be madness if was in another country or would we just respect that's their culture ?WTF is Anne wearing at that 'vigil'?
This is madness!
If it was part of UK culture it wouldn't look so absurd. How can anyone take this ridiculous cos play seriously? She look's like she's auditioning for panto at Billingham Forum.Would it be madness if was in another country or would we just respect that's their culture ?
Would you say the same to the beefeaters who've seen active service for Queen and Country? If it was part of UK culture it wouldn't look so absurd. How can anyone take this ridiculous cos play seriously? She look's like she's auditioning for panto at Billingham Forum.
Yes, they also look ridiculous. It's silly. I don't put people who sell themselves to the state violence apparatus on a pedestal. Just saw some ex-forces on the News cracking up about Elizabeth Windsor's death. They seem to worship her as some something above human like a dog worships its owner. Rather disturbing to me.Would you say the same to the beefeaters who've seen active service for Queen and Country?
No it just looks ridiculous what ever cultureWould it be madness if was in another country or would we just respect that's their culture ?
Men and women who have put their lives on the line serving in the British forces deserve respect.Yes, they also look ridiculous. It's silly.
