Why is dyslexia so difficult to spell?

Or why is abbreviation which a long word?

If car manufacturers wanted to create a material that was AMAZING at holding on to 'bits' and was impossible to vacuum clean.... then they'd struggle to beat the felty stuff that car boots and floors are currently lined with.

(Not that I'm OCD about it (well maybe just a bit), but SURELY they could have invented something better by now).

Why do technology manufacturers put port labels in black so that you have to use a torch to see what you're actually meant to plug into them?

I've got an Asus sound card in my PC. each of the various ports is illuminated by a different coloured LED. Its fantastic for when you're under a desk an in the dark!

That seems good in principle but is it instantly obvious which colour corresponds to which cable?

Most "US variations" in English are usually archaic terms that have fallen out of use in Blighty. Eg. "gotten".

the colour matches what it says in the manual (Green = Speaker out/Headphones). it definitely makes it easier.

Fair enough. My ideal would be to just have the word written visibly in white above each port, so it can be seen whatever the environment, without opening the manual.
