Proof of vaccine to enter nightclubs from September...

Well, at least this will stop people under 18 getting in  Not sure how this will work, who will police this?

Apparently this counts for other large events as well, so football matches maybe?

Great move, unexpected too, but this will have a massive impact on the uptake for all generations, and likely even them all out.

They're waiting till September so that everyone has the opportunity to get 2 x jabbed, which I get, but they could have said 1 x jab from July too. I'm not going to complain about that though, as overall this is an exceptionally good thing.

Bouncers I reckon, or bar staff for places without bouncers.

It will end up counting for a few settings I think, and football is probably one, because of the concourses.

Effectively this is almost mandatory vaccination, by choice, except it's not much of a choice, as 99% will need this to do something they want to. It's gonna drive the anti-vaxers wild :ROFLMAO:

If it's not mandated by government I don't think it will last long. Business will almost certainly put profits first.

If enough people just don't bother you will get one after the other stopping the restriction.

Even then, places likely will ignore it.

Table service was mandatory by law, as was checking in, loads of places didn't do it anyway.

But hopefully this will still incentivise enough vaccine sceptics to make a difference.

It will certainly push some of the young uns who otherwise wouldn't have bothered.

It will be interesting to see what happens under parliamentary scrutiny, but I don't even think that will happen.

The government seem to have an incoherent approach that most of us recognise for what it is.

Now until the end of September is a very long time during a pandemic, so much could and probably will change between then. I wouldn't be surprised if they try and suggest only those with two jabs can attend university.

Thankfully I get my second at the end of August, and I've still got a few more years of night clubs left in the tank 🕺

Its effectively Johnson telling the entire night life hospitality sector 'you're on your own - your premises are your problem'. No more support coming through and in the press conference he didn't rule out NI tax and income tax rises.

Will it be digital only passports or will something like an i.d. card be launched too?

Oh and that's another conspiracy theory proven to be fact. 😎

I think this is a good idea in principle and should have been adopted before now.

However the challenge will be in the execution of it.

I was at Headingley yesterday and witnessed staff members glancing arbitrarily at Covid passes and LFD results on phones. I didn’t see any scrutinised or cross referenced with ID.

I understand it is not too difficult to forge such ‘evidence’ but from what I saw yesterday people won’t need to. They can just show someone else’s Covid pass or negative LFD result.

I think the government will come down hard on venues that don't enforce it, or they will just have the local authorities close them, or have a warning system.

No reason whatsoever for pubs and bars not to do it, not when the majority want vaccines anyway.

I assume some people would report venues flouting the new rules, likely more they would than for serving 17-year-olds or whatever, so it sort of will likely end up self-policing.

The risk of "not getting in" will drive loads more to get vaxxed, just to avoid the bother. Even if you know you can get in one place, it doesn't mean your mates might not want to go to another that has tighter checks.

Brilliant move on three fronts, 1) will make nightclubs safer, 2) will motivate people particular 18-35 to get the vaccine, and 3) it'll **** of that age bracket and above with the Tories.
Yeah, I did think that it will cement the younger groups against the tories, that's why I was mostly surprised they did this.

The alternative is that the virus spreads through the youth, who can't afford a home due to the Tory housing crisis, they then take it home to family and kill them. That'll look even worse than making it harder to go to a nightclub. They'll have crunched the voter impact numbers on both scenarios before making this decision

Its a shame they cant coerce people with a promise of a brighter future or something instead. For every 100 jabs in this age range we build a social house!

Dont like the passport idea one bit really, purely on principle. But, suppose its a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme. As randy said another wild conspiracy that is soon to be reality if this goes through.
