I've disembarked at Walvis Bay before! I only remember it smelled of fish and was very sandy.

Oh and the airport was a wooden shed as there was work going on, but they had beers .

Sounds like Namibia. I arrived at Walvis Bay initially but crew change from a tiny town called Oranjemund (on the border with South Africa) then head to Windhoek.

Oranjemund and Luderitz are both a bit like a Star Wars film. Sand dunes everywhere. Namibia is a good country though and the people are great.
