Problems with Tees wind turbine factory

Was talk of there being problems with this last night. All denied by Jacob Young and Ben Houston, well denied by who ever is employed by them to operate their social media. Problems confirmed by GE and reported in the northern echo. All denials now deleted by local politicians.

If this is true then it is worrying for all the new jobs it could create and issues for the supply chain within the area and not a reason to be politically point scoring.

It is very worrying but I dont see anybody playing politics but our chubby tory mayor.

Houchen wants to take all the credit for it happening but avoid all blame for anything that goes wrong - thats playing politics!

"A spokesperson for GE Renewable Energy exclusively told The Northern Echo this morning: “GE Renewable Energy’s LM Wind Power business is currently facing delays in the finalisation of the leasing agreement and design to open its new blade manufacturing plant in Teesside, England."

That's from the Northern Echo. The leasing can only related to PD Ports I would imagine, as it's probably their land the facility will be built on. Let's hope it isn't terminal and a deal can be made. I'm sure Humberside or Blyth will be willing to accommodate GE.

The reality is that Houchen has already made his headlines and increased his majority with his 20k new job promises, the reality was like many other of these promises they often don’t to come either partial or full fruition, unfortunately expressing those concerns is seen as negativity, talking the area down or Tory bashing, when in truth it’s a fair appraisal of how Houchen and his ilk operate.

Disappointing for the area but I’m sure that if it is rescued at a smaller scale then once again Houchen will don his magic hard hat and calculate these jobs as further additions to the mythical 20k he and his followers so often boast of, talk of levelling up is a nonsense as the regional poverty divide continues to widen but catnip to the gullible who can’t see the wood for the trees, again it’s the area and the people who live here that continue to be left behind.

Pretty much. The GE project will happen with or without Houchen. He's just been incredibly lucky with the timing and of course has taken credit for it.

"Levelling Up" is just a gimmick designed to stick in minds and win votes. It means nothing and will amount to nothing as well.

That's part of GE's problem. Humberside have already won most of the contracts apart from Dogger Bank and GE want to wait until 2023 to see if they can win any more before they proceed.

It does make sense if you're GE. Not good potentially for Teesside though, so I hope it still goes ahead as planned on the Tees.

On other threads, people are saying we shouldn't be calling the Prime Minister Boris, but should be calling him Johnson, which seems appropriate I must say. I think we should be doing the same with our mayor and use his full name Ben.T. Houchen
