Private Eye and Teesside freeport

I know nepotism has gone on since the year dot, and if any of us could give their kids a leg up onto the employment ladder we would do it.......but FFS at least follow some kind of protocol ie advertise the job, conduct sham interviews etc.

There's levels of p*ss taking......and then there is this. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

If Houchen does lose the election, and if a Labour mp is returned, together with a local administration.
The first thing that should happen is the best team of forensic accountants available should be sent in and shake down this dodgy enterprise. They probably think they have it buttoned up tight.
There’s always a trail if you know where to look😉

Thanks to WeeMoby for keeping this thread going. It saves us all having to buy PE for the full story. Selfish, I know.
No worries, it gives me something to do every other Wednesday when the postman delivers my issue 👍.

As NYboro says it's worth buying, especially if you get a subscription as it works out a hell of a lot cheaper than the standard retail price.

It also lets me know Royal Mail haven't forgotten me. 😆

That just shows stdc is not being run for the benefit of Teesside and taxpayers. It is being run for the benefit of Musgrave etc. the attempt to extort from PD Ports, a very large and well paying company is a disgrace. Houchen should resign on this one issue alone.

What benefit of this costly exercise could ever be for the people of Teesside?

Absolutely essential reading and of course non more so than the deeply corrupt situation surrounding the Freeport. But in a world where most of todays high st printed media are extensions of Conservative Central Office its a healthy shining beacon and independent to boot.

And it has some great cartoons for the more simple-minded amongst us (ie me!).

That's reassuring. I remember trying to get into it many years ago and just found it beyond me. Too many in-jokes and irrelevant articles, but that was probably a reflection of my immaturity at the time.
