Post Office scandal

I can remember this being on the local news years ago. A couple fighting to prove they were honest hardworking post masters. I'm not sure what happened but clearly they were caught up in this. Disgusting.

I wrote about this 4 months ago - according to BBC Radio 5 they jailed a 19 year old young woman in Holloway the judge said he wanted to make an example of her. She worked for a post office i.e. it was not her post office. Her parents offered to pay the money (which she had not stolen) but the judge said she had stolen money from Pensioners etc, all based on the Post Office software which was not reliable. She had a bad time in Holloway and it has traumatised her. I couldn't believe this could happen in this country. You would think someone would have said something is not right here when hundreds of these cases suddenly started appearing.

I can recommend "The Great Post Office Trial" now on BBC Sounds. It goes into more detail than "Panorama", and one of the heroes is, oddly enough, a Tory MP.

How can nobody be held to account for this? There must be a regulatory body or government department somewhere who feels compelled to investigate those responsible?

What happened to the woman Red?

Substantial financial compensation should be the very least these victims should receive if no one is to be held to account for this disgrace.

From the two cases completed they seem to have won very little. There are still 3 cases to be adjudged. There are a lot more postmasters involved now, so hopefully things may change.

Redwurzel I heard that R5 report and its a story I’ve followed. I watched the program last night and couldn’t understand why it was broadcast, there was nothing new in it at all that hasn’t been broadcast or published before. Lazy journalism again.

still a national disgrace mind.
