Post brexit should Britain go back to Imperial units?

Yup, we still use it over here. Still don't know why a US pint is 16floz though and not 20...

Isn't it because a Pint is an eigth of a Gallon? Our Gallon is bigger so our pints are bigger? Although I suppose the why is it different just applies to the gallon then!

I've worked in aviation and offshore engineering (using radiation) that both use a mix of both metric and imperial.

SI units are infinitely superior in most respects I find. I still don't ever use pascal or bar naturally though, they just don't roll off the tongue.

I get that but why is the Imperial pint larger?

Abolish the whole lot for me.

I can't picture weight in anything but stone or long distance in anything but miles, but I'm sure I'd adapt quickly enough.

Just makes things unnecessarily complicated having divergent units of measure from the rest of the world, even if we've halfway phased them out.

Metric is fine for engineering and scientific uses, but Imperial is far more useful in every day life like for shopping. And Fahrenheit is a much more precise and useful temperature scale for domestic life.

Miles for distance travelled, nice to see a return to feet but just for heights and contours on OS maps. As for Fahrenheit ....... it's absolute cack ........ we are not America's poodle, quote, unquote.

I remember switching from imperial to metric in 3rd year infants.

I still have an old school book somewhere with all my sums in £, shillings and d.

Then the next day we had gone decimal.

And that was that.

I think Fahrenheit himself was dutch or German...
