Police in South stand

Sadly this behaviour is creeping back into football. It appears those who were involved 1st time round are bathing in nostalgic pseudo glorification and passing off their 'war stories' as if it was something to be proud of and their offspring, and their offspring, are emulating their thuggery. You only have to glance OTR to see the pathetic attempts of some to pass this off as a badge to wear, when the reality is that they are a laughing stock with no meaning in life. To be pitied and avoided, no meaningful or positive contribution to society or footy

It's a sickness for the repeat offenders.
Some of them can't help it and go to jail for it.
What are normally sane family men turn into monsters and lose sense of reality and control.
It's not an excuse for it but having seen it first hand they are sick people.

I have now reported this to Cleveland Police
Sammysmith-You may well be a witness. Could you tell the police what you saw please?
I feel sick to the stomach even now.
I really didn’t see anything apart from a beaten up lad who was getting some sympathy and first aid from his 2 mates. I wouldn’t even be able to pick them out in a line up. You know how busy and rushed it is at that part of town after the match. It was a sorry sight to see.

I read the Mackems board occasionally, and I think a lot of their fans have noticed much more disorder at matches, there was some at their match at Bolton yesterday. Until there is some sanction (and I don't know what it might be) there won't be any improvement. Not back to the bad old days as witnessed by many on here just yet, but it is headed that way it seems

Family friends went to the Accrington v Sunderland game the other week. They left early to get the tran and got attacked at Blackburn station by thugs with baseball bats. They spent the night in Blackburn hospital. The lad had a lump the size of a goldfish bowl just above his eye.

Anyone who says it's not creeping back into the game is kidding themselves. It may not be as bad as the 80's yet but it is definitely getting worse.

I fear the Derby game may just prove the point.

Every time I looked over to the south stand, the end row of Boro fans seemed more interested in taunting the Cov fans with insulting gestures and come on gestures. Not really watching the game and supporting their team. It looked more intimidation than banter.
I also saw the bloodied nose lad next to the subway. His mates were cleaning his face up. It left a sour taste after what was a good result. I don’t go to the match often but wish it wasn’t as tense, feeling you need to watch your back.
Absolutely this.

I’ve said this many times to the person I sit next to but what are they doing. All stood out on the steps and giving it the “come on” gestures and pointing outside. They look absolutely pathetic. No interest in the game going on in front of them.

I would love to know why the club tolerate this behaviour and not move them.

bother at bolton too .. sad times for football when a father has to take his son away from a stadium (regardless of score) because the child didnt feel safe

Through experience I know the Club has a very good CCTV system. With only a minority causing grief. Really cannot be hard to identify the idiots and ban them.

Our stewards are employed by MFC so where is the oversight here?
Presumably there's a hierarchy in place where the Head Steward reports to the club direct or through some intermediary.
Why aren't those little scrotes on the South Stand being ejected and banned?

I saw a lad who’s nose was bleeding just not far from the train tracks but didn’t see any scuffling or lads running away.

I did notice a group of young lads hanging around the subway closest to the train tracks, dressed in their usual hooligan wannabe attire and thought they were up to no good. Wonder if they were the ones involved.

The Red Faction have done a fantastic job in creating a great atmosphere in the South Stand, I remember when there was about 20 of them in the South East corner.

I am in no way connecting the Red Faction to any of the violence. What’s happened is that the South Stand has got more and more popular off the back of the Red Faction and has become a boys end of sorts. Can anyone remember when there was a fair bit of trouble with Sheff United a few years back and a few kids got a slap?

The difference now is that the demographic has changed and within that South Stand you’ve got an element who will actually act on all the posturing and bravado. It’s dangerous really and this is what we are seeing now. You still have the types who will wear all the brands and will antagonise the away fans behind a wall of police but will **** themselves if anything actually kicks off but you’ve also got an element who will fight.

Derby is a potential powder keg and I hope the club and police and proactively managing this already.

There is a real problem at sunderland. How do you punish or create any form if deterrent to people who are already rssigned to watching sunderland week in week out? It doesnt get any worse than that.

INCELS?

I think you mean 'ars*holes'.
Dunno! I was just going on the basis that they looked like they belonged to a community of young men who consider themselves unable to attract women sexually and take their frustrations out using violence although I wouldn't claim to be an expert.
On the way to the ground we walked alongside Coventry fans and all was well. That's how it should be.
Meanwhile I'm also annoyed at the right hand side of the South Stand where attendees seem to spend a large percentage of game time taking an interest in rival fans rather than the game.

As Indeedido rightly stated, no need for violence, no excuses, whatever went on, whoever the individual was, whether there was anything said or not, there is no defence for violence. I hope the ‘people’ that were involved are caught and prosecuted. One blow can kill someone, ruin lives of many others. Anyone witnessing such an incident has a duty to report it to the police at the very least, I hope the Trug and others have done so, if not, why not?

I agree with that. But as I said in the post you quoted, I’d be reluctant to start crowd funding someone who was as guilty as the morons who committed the violence witnessed. That was the point of my post.

I think the size of the segregated area is actually making it worse as these cowards feel safe away from their targets like the Roma fans in the UEFA Cup.

We saw two Champo games today where the rival fans were sat next to each other.

I think these **** houses wouldn't be so brave say 2 seats away with only a vertical column of stewards between them.

Let's hope the lads keep playing well and the empty seats will be sold to decent fans.

That’s a good point. Reminds me of going away to Bristol Rovers when they played at Bath. Lost 1-2 and Rippers got sent off, I think. On the way out we were separated from the home fans by a chicken wire fence. Some little Boro ne’er do well was roundly abusing a huge Rovers skinhead. Without warning the fence stopped. It took a couple of seconds for the idiot to comprehend what had happened… One of the funniest things I ever seen at a match. 😀
