That’s a good point. Reminds me of going away to Bristol Rovers when they played at Bath. Lost 1-2 and Rippers got sent off, I think. On the way out we were separated from the home fans by a chicken wire fence. Some little Boro ne’er do well was roundly abusing a huge Rovers skinhead. Without warning the fence stopped. It took a couple of seconds for the idiot to comprehend what had happened… One of the funniest things I ever seen at a match.

I spent the whole game at Bristol City in the so called away end, surrounded by a mob of Bristol on a Friday night game circa 1979.

I was the only Boro fan of punchable age and had a side parting shaved in to my skinhead haircut and they were patting me on the head saying in their west country twang "oooh-arrrr, tennissy ball head"

I was bricking it all the way through but didn't get a dig. In fact they shook my hand at the end.

I've had a lot of time for Brizzel City ever since.

That was the match where me and my brother went to Bristol for the game. Got to the ground half hour early only to realise it was in Bath.
Thrashed my Capri half to death and got there just before half time.
There was a small fence, couldn't see a turnstile. The steward let us in for free.

Through experience I know the Club has a very good CCTV system. With only a minority causing grief. Really cannot be hard to identify the idiots and ban them.

CCTV isn’t gonna help the poor lad on life support after a group of idiots have set about him. We need to look at the cause and put prevention measures in place to stop these aggressors.

I meant in the ground Sammy, the little shoites taunting the away fans are probably the ones involved afterwards in the tunnel. If it was them then it may have been prevented through the CCTV coverage. The Coventry forum are saying they were just taken back to the South stand, very poor from MFC stewarding.

It doesn't help the individual there but it can help future victims, it worked in the 80s and 90s, it identifies them and they get extra attention or an early morning knock at their front door.
I honestly think that the tactics what the police used to good effect has been forgotten or underused by subsequent police officers and commands who do not have the experience and are not expecting hooliganism to come back at matches in the scale it has, it never went away.
