Players you were wrong about..

Paul Scholes - I just thought he was hyped by fergurson.
it turns out he was one of the best players I have ever seen. a player who was ruined when played for england. the entire team shouldve been bullt around him for 10 years.

Leroy Lita.

I argued that we should sign him, compared to Jermaine Beckford with whom we were linked at the time.

I still think Lita was the better option, but he was still a huge letdown. Whoever "the thinking man's footballer" is, Lita is his opposite. Run fast in a straight line, the whack the ball as hard as you can, in all situations, may be ok for a 12 year old, but he never progressed beyond that

We're always saying - usually after they've had a blinder - "whoever" is an excellent player & we should look to buy him..

Who have you said is poke, & turned out to be a player?

Ramsdale for me at Sheff Utd he looked a liability, he's looking a proper keeper now.. £30m well spent not wasted..
Gaston Ramirez, much to my detriment. Based off what he'd done at Southampton and Hull, expected a busted flush. Definitely one of the most talented midfielders we've had in the last decade, despite his acrimonious departure. That second half of the 2015/16 season was scintillating.

I genuinely quite liked Leroy as a teenager, but in hindsight I always thought it was from a "he was a trier" perspective ala Bart Ogbeche. Didn't realise he managed to score as many in that period for us, which is probably a reflection on how poor he was tbf!

Declan Rice, great player. Thought him and Harry Winks were **** rank players who were only getting hyped because they play for the clubs all the London journalists support. I was very wrong about one of them 😁

Thought Saido Mane was a bit of a reach and would be out of his depth at Liverpool. Yikes.

Traore. I thought he was a headless chicken with loads of pace but no end product, and wished we'd kept Adomah. Turned out he could be taught to cross/shoot and the rest is history

Leadbitter. Never liked or rated him before he came to us. He’s now easily one of my favourite ever boro players and I’m very happy to have been proven wrong.

Id say his failings were quite acceptable in a teenager, so I agree.

We had him for his prime years though, and he still played like a raw teenager, albeit with some physical gifts.

He wasn't a terrible signing overall: we somehow made a profit in him. I was just expecting much more.

He also loved a yellow for taking his shirt off, but it was the immaturity of his play that irked me the most
