Getting payed mega money for kicking a lump of leather about but still feel the need to pray to God fo help ,as if they really need to pray for help

So what happens if players from both sides pray? Does God have to take a break from flooding Pakistan or spreading AIDS in Africa to choose which team he likes better? And how does the player who prayed but lost the game justify that to himself afterwards?
