Players needed before the end of the window

All the new players coming obviously have had some kind of negative effect on the squad, I’m not too sure if it’s because the incoming players are seen as not worthy or what but certainly it’s seems negative.

If there are more to come in they need to be experienced and bring some positive vibe as I get the feeling (and based on today’s performance) that there’s disharmony amongst the squad.

It’s bad that our wish list as above covers about 7 positions on the pitch, and hard to disagree with a lot of it.

I’d hope Wilder can coach the attributes into some of the lads we’ve already got. Mowatt looks like a leader to me and Lenihan will settle.
Don’t disagree with the needs but o do disagree with when they were needed. The squad was needed in place before the season started, not 7/8 games into it when the window closes.

We’ll have spaffed enough points away with an inadequate squad by the time the window shuts. We’re already from now - 5 games in - in catch up mode, assuming we can actually start winning at all.
5 games is more than 10% of the season. When the window closes it’s closer to 20%.

This has been my frustration: if we save 5m but miss out on promotion by 5 points because the squad was nowhere near when we kicked off, is that a win?

I don't think Bola or Dijksteel are top champ level.

Bola is a league one quality LB, pure and simple.

Dijksteel is a decent championship fullback, he can 'do a job' at CB but he will have poor games because he isn't a CB and never was.

Fry, good defender, but poor footballer. If you want to play the ball on the deck, he isn't your man. I think he'll move on
Fry is one the best centre backs in the division nothing has changed apart from wilder destroying the lads confidence

I think Dijksteel could be a top championship full back, but that isn't where he's going to play for us as we don't play full backs.

Thought he was great when Wilder first came in, but has definitely lost a bit of form. As a deputy for McNair though don't think you could do any better.

Bit harsh to say Fry is a poor footballer, his technique is decent. But agree he doesn't suit the way Wilder wants to play. Personally think it's more of a mentality issue than anything else. His instinct is to always play it safe, not necessarily a bad quality for a centre back but he's clearly finding it hard to change that mindset. I wouldn't write him off just yet, but seems fairly clear Wilder is frustrated with him.

According to Whoscored he was 46th best CB in the championship last season. Way behind Lenihan, McNair and even Bamba.

He was a midtable champ CB last year. Nothing to do with Wilder destroying his confidence. If we are going to play a more possession based game, he isn't good enough to play because his passing poor, laboured, inaccurate

100%, he's a decent squad player, a good midtable championship RB. At RCB, he can plug a gap, at RWB he can plug a gap, maybe even at CDM. So as a squad player he's a good value player for us, but he shouldn't be a first choice.

Tactically, he isn't bad, he reads the game ok, technique depends what the technique is, played at LCB his heading technique is better than Bola and he'd have cleared the cross further yesterday that they scored from. But his passing technique, he's just far too slow to get his feet right and make the pass. That means he's under too much pressure too often and that leads to a turnover. So for other teams and other tactics he's a midtable champ CB with potential to go to the prem, but for us, he's a square peg. I think a sale will suit all parties.

agreed. Said at half time we needed to get McNair into RCB, because he's better on the ball than Fry. If we are going to trust Wilders style you can't have non-footballers like Fry in the back. Fry again was awful in possession, looked like the ball was a foreign object to him,

McNair also should only be an emergency CM, in fact I'd be more inclined to play Dijksteel as CDM and Howson as an 8, than what we had today with McNair as an 8, it's not his position.

Now, what we need is to find the left sided equivalent of McNair.
If you're right - and I think you are - where do you think Wilder is on this? Yes he's repeatedly public on LCB and pretty dismissive on Fry but I don't hear much about a 'Boateng-type' player OR a centre mid who can actually go forward.

46 in the championship is just nonsense do you really believe that
No, but it's an indication that on measurable stats he is nowhere near the top CBs, he's in a pack of about 30 players behind the top 10 premiership ready CBs. That group he is in are inconsistent and have some flaws.

Rumours of Ethan Ampadu might have some legs. Played that CDM role in Italy last season and played for Wilder at Sheff U the season before. There have been a lot of leaks about signings this summer, so I think there is some truth in this. Obviously Choudrey was the other player we were linked with but we missed out on that one. So I think he will bring one in.

LCB, I have no idea who he will go for, it'll have to be a permanent signing. left footed CBs are a premium, so might need to sell Fry to raise the cash (but that will leave us needing 2 CBs). I think this one might come from leftfield, maybe a foreign signing. Would love an Italian CB, they don't take prisoners, happy to employ the dark arts and are generally good on the ball
