Pitch Invaders

They should be heavily fined and banned permanently.

And if they're under the age of 18, then their parents should face consequences and punishmen.

Those two last night are absolute scumbags.

Aged 19 & 22

Old enough to understand they shouldn't be going onto the pitch, old enough to accept the consequences.

I hope they get jail sentences but they won't they'll get some puny fine that's paid at £1 a week or something suspended.

Good on the off duty police officer (assuming that’s what he was) for helping out. Seemed to have to remove one of the lads from the pitch side in a headlock

The two pillocks who invaded the pitch had earlier been told by a steward to take their beer back to the concourse. They then picked an area to get on the pitch where there was a young female steward who had no chance preventing them. There are more people bringing beer back to their seats in the North stand than I’ve ever seen before. Some stewards turn a blind eye to this unfortunately.

This is worrying, and as soon as people see a few people getting away with it, it will spread like wildfire and become really difficult for the club to crack down on.

The drinking in the seats is simply a consequence of cost cutting. Was always a steward on each vomitory to stop this - most people wouldn’t have tried as they know the rules but having to physically carry your pint past a steward was a deterrent that worked. We now have a fraction of the match day stewards pre COVID. It clearly saves money but drinking in seats is a breach of the ground regulations and we could see a heavy fine coming our way soon. At the start of the season it was a few isolated cases but last night there were far more taking beer up to their seats. Will only get worse.

People also vaping away merrily and stewards don't do anything.

I think the "w@nkers" chant from the south stand started because they were sticking their fingers up at the south stand ✌️✌️

The trouble is its almost impossible to stop people getting on the pitch unless you make a human wall between the stands and the pitch. Chasing afyer these idiots often prolongs the pitch invasion. You seen this last night when these two left the pitch at the west stand but ran back on when the stewards walked towards them.

I understand where you're coming from. I think pitch invaders want the stewards to chase them, as they think they're entertaining the crowd when they manage to evade the stewards. We've seen it happen many times down the years - a steward attempts to grab a pitch invader and falls over, and you hear the laughter in the stands. Think the majority of fans just find it pathetic now though and maybe the stewards are thinking they will just be playing into their hands by chasing them and looking like idiots when they're unable to catch them.

I loved it when the two numpties were considering going back into the north stand and one of them thought he was going to outrun the steward and make it back over, but fell on his backside.

It isn't cost cutting - it is difficult to get the levels of stewards that were available pre Covid. Just like so many industries where people are not in full time employment it is not easy to get the numbers anymore. The same applies to bar staff etc. A once or twice a fortnight job is not going to be as attractive as a job several nights a week.

I’ve seen 5 people do it this season and not hiding it either one was carrying two pints up the stairs.

It looked like an off duty copper got involved in arresting them. Seemed to me like they wanted agro with everyone. I hope they're battered and bruise in the morning from being dragged away.
Yeah I wondered who he was. The fact that they let him help manhandle one of the scrotes made me think he must be a copper. He was back on his seat shortly after

Its bizarre how further down the pyramid (i was at shields v marske in the FA Cup last weekend) its just part of the matchday experience (having a pint during the game). But theres no segregation either which is a potential recipe for trouble on the terraces which there was a bit of sadly

Drinking beer in seats shouldn't be a problem, it's happening around the country at hundreds of games every Saturday.

What is it about league football that attracts these morons?

Calls to have these particular numpties jailed are ridiculous though. Ban them from the ground by all means but that's enough as far as punishment goes.

I was at the darlo billy town game at Bedford terrace a few years ago and that kicked on the pitch and on the touch lines at one point the fans were fighting the players.

It was only after I found out this was the closest darlo had bee. To Hartlepool ( the town) since liquidation and all the poolies had come down for a fight it was chaos.

I think darlo won 6-0 that day

In reality there is a very small chance that a steward is going to be able to run on the pitch, chase down what is usually a young lad, or in this case two, catch them and then be able to reprimand them by themselves.

As someone who was a steward briefly when I was only 18/19, I wouldn't be expected to go and chase after one, it would be one of the senior stewards (they tend to wear the green or blue jackets rather than orange) and the majority of these were either 50+ or very unfit, from my experience anyways.

The only thing that will stop this is the punishments being stricter.

Also, the training you get is non-existent. You only sit through one presentation before getting the job.
