Pet Shop Rules

Does anyone know the rules around stroking the animals/birds or touching them in Pet shops before buying them? I have just been banned from my local pet shop. The manager said the reason was stroking the parrots on display. I am really angry about this as I didn't realise you could not do that. I have been doing this for years.

Like me don't you ever get sick of all the Polly Tickle Correctness these days??

If you were getting on well with the parrott it will just be Jealousy.
I used to go into a Pet shop and follow the rules until they weren't watching but would do my own thing once I Was left to my own devices.

A man walks into a pet shop and says “I purchased a parrot from this store a week ago and he has not yet spoken.”

The store owner says, “Well, some parrots are slower learners than others. Here’s a book of simple phrases you can teach your parrot.”

The man accepted the book, paid for it, and left.

The next day, the man walked into the store and said, “That bird still won’t talk.”

The store owner said, “Maybe he just needs some inspiration. Here’s a bell you can hang in his cage. It might inspire him to make some sounds of his own.”

The man once again accepted it, made his payment, and left.

The man walked in the next day with the same problem, at which point the store owner offered a mirror, which he hoped would raise the bird’s spirits, which the man once more accepted and paid for before leaving.

The next day, the man walked into the store, looking absolutely crestfallen. He said, “Well, my parrot finally spoke, but he died immediately after.”

The store owner replied, “I’m sorry to hear that. If you don’t mind me asking, what did he say?”

“He said ‘Do they seriously not sell food at that store?’”
