Payero to Boca on loan

Hardly played and was never going to play under CW, so don't think him going changes anything transfer wise for us

He hardly played because he kept getting ill and injured, Wilder might make more use of a midfield option that's available and trusted.

Crooks was suspended on 3 separate occasions last season, for a total of 6 games, Payero was injured or coming back from injury for 5 of them, the one he was fully available for was against West Brom and he got injured in that match.

Not blaming him for the injuries, it's bad fortune, but it's a big part of the reason he's barely featured.

Equally in terms of bad luck, he got Covid in January and struggled with that, so missed matches, then quickly injured himself when he was finally over it and had started to feature under Wilder.

Under wilder maybe but not under warnock he just wasn’t given a chance.

He kept getting injured under Warnock too.

That was pretty soon after he joined.

He then played in the next two matches, got injured again, started the next 4 matches and finally started to show glimpses of quality, got injured, came back for 1 match and then got injured again.

Warnock was only in charge for 17 games last season, Payero played in 9 and was missing through injury for 4-6 of them.

This lad was a very highly rated in Argentina when we signed him people talk as though he was a no mark or a journey man flop.

It would be a shame if we let him go so soon, but guess we don't know what's behind it if it is true. Not settled? Not a Wilder player? Who knows, but I don't think he's reallt had a fair Crack yet, particularly when lots of foreign players take a season to adjust to English leagues.

According to the current manager, he does.

So Warnock identified Payero then?
Payero had been scouted for 18 months prior. The club had high hopes for him. The recent interview was poorly translated - he wants to go home but Boro want him to stay in Europe.

His token debut set the tone for me and showed he wasn’t really fancied.

He played 18 minutes after featuring for 71 minutes in the League Cup a few days before.

He was brought on immediately after we'd taken the lead for his league debut against Bristol City, and if my memory serves me right he'd been waiting for a break in play to be substituted on anyway.

Neither strike me as token debuts.

Hasn't worked out, probably both club and player need to take responsibility for this, but these things happen in football. Swings and roundabouts, there's Djed Spence for example that we picked up for buttons and are about to flog for millions.

I’d argue “played” in 9 as in total he never played 600 mins

I would suspect that's a misquote. Bauser isn't part of the scouting team, he does the paperwork, the contract negotiations. He probably rejects players based on fees quoted. But to actively select the players to sign is out of the scope of his role.

Payero, was scouted by Leo wasn't he.

Only 10 of those games you've shown are under Warnock, Payero was injured in 2 of them.

He played 504 minutes out of a possible 720 minutes in the 8 he was available for there, or 70% of the available minutes.
In the final appearance, he was subbed off with an injury.

Not sure why you'd try to argue he didn't play in them, of his appearances under Warnock there's only really the cameo against QPR where he didn't have time on the pitch.

Look at the on bench no playing minutes figures shocking really.

7 games on the bench and in all that time he played just 1 min. 1 min out of 7 games.

So this myth he was always injured just Isn’t true.

You're just ignoring what I'm actually saying and sticking to your own preconceived narrative.

Under Warnock, he was available for 14 of 18 games (including 1 cup match), he missed 4 through injury.
He played in 10, he started in 7, he stayed on the bench for 4 and he came off injured in the second half in 1.
3 of those 4 games on the bench were when he'd just signed and he was still getting up to speed with the game in England.
So he featured in 71% of the games he was available for under Warnock, and he played 597 minutes or 47% of all available minutes.

In no world is that him not being given a chance by Warnock.

There's more of a case for him not being given a chance under Wilder in December, but that's not what you said.

Sad he's going. Young foreign players need time to settle and show their best and he didn't get it. Knew he wasn't injured - as I called on Sunday:

So Leo decides who we buy?

No offence intended but I’ll stick with what our current manager, and previous managers have said about Bausors involvement - over a fans message board.
