Payero to Boca on loan

He clearly not settled here. Prons hoping a spanish or portuguese club take him on. Id imagine he has felt lonely or unloved by past two managers. Still thi k we should persevere for another season but wilder doesnt trust him

Another position we need to fill then you'd think. Howson, Tav, Crooks and McGree isn't enough. We probably needed a pure Defensive midfielder anyway.

The shopping list grows.

Not injured Wilder does not fancy him, Heard that months ago. Shame cos I thought we signed a decent box to box midfielder but sometimes these big money signings don't pay off

We may have signed a decent box-to-box midfielder, the lad just hasn't had the opportunity to prove it.

It's frustrating because he'll forever be one I'll look back on and wonder "what if".

Thank uck he has gone. We need players that can play every week and want to play every week. He has been a waste of a squad position for over a year. Not sure this is his fault or the clubs fault. What ever he is no longer a problem.

What an absolute waste of money.

It was a reputed 4-6mil? We've had absolutely nothing for that and not even been given the opportunity to stick around to prove himself.

It has to be said its 2 managers who didn't fancy him. Many blasted Warnock for appearing to 'not be his signing' and not playing him. Wilder can't have seen much more.

The only thing loaning does is take him off the wage bill (I'm guessing it's a few quid). Doesn't bring in any transfer money or get him off the books permanently.

Oh well we had Cardiff away. That's about the only memory I have of him after 12 months 😂

Who's to say he didn't want to play every week? He was available for selection for months after Wilder first came in and didn't get a look-in - not even a late cameo coming off the bench.

He got injured away at QPR but again didn't get a look-in when he became available for selection again. Again, not even a late cameo coming off the bench, despite Wilder saying he was part of his plans.

It was a waste of money but I don't get why people are so annoyed about it? Why would we keep him when he clearly hasn't been good enough and hasn't shown enough in training for Wilder to keep him?

The mistake was the initial purchase, not getting rid now.

I remember him starting a home game, and he'd looked lost during the 1st half but grew into the game. I remember he showed a lovely piece of skill where he pirouetted by one player and then nutmegged another. I think he assisted Coburn late on in the same game.

He displayed his talent in flashes, which left me wanting to see more of him.

What is the point of loaning him ? We might as well cut our losses and sell him if he's not fancied by the club.
He's not had a run of games to try and prove himself at all.
He needs games under his belt, he needs to physically mature, he might be better suited to the prem. We’d have to take a hit if we were to sell now, also clubs might be wary given how little he’s played here.

Makes sense to me. Free’s up a bit of cash and develops the player. Hopefully the Payero story at Middlesbrough does not end with this loan move..
