Passport control at EU airports

Ah no - it's unsustainable. There'll be a rapprochement and, provided it's pitched correctly, then things will head back to the UK as being a diminished member of the EU universe.

The Times, 2025: "Prime Minister Sunak returns from Brussels after foring the EU to allow the UK to align with the single market"
Sadly it’ll have to be sustained. There is a vocal minority of brexiters who aren’t going to let us fix things and recover. They want Brexit done and they seemingly don’t care about all the issues it’s causing. It saddens me that we are beholden to this and no one can explain why

I recently went through border control at Madrid coming in from Dubai. There was only 1 immigration point open and that was for everyone. The only real difference seems to be we now get a stamp in our UK passport. No questions ie where you been, where you going etc. as far as Spain is concerned it seems to be very much open arms policy to Brits at the moment. Perhaps they will strike some sort of reciprocal deal once all this settles down. That’s the general feeling in Spain anyway

Recently travelled to the Canaries and back, no delay whatsoever. In face fastest ever transition through Madchester airport.

Friend just travelled Madrid, Amsterdam, Teesside and then same return, again no delays other than a slightly more thorough document check at schipol

For Europe, it will depend on the airport and how many immigration lanes they have.

If you go to say, Malaga, there's two ways through the terminal.

If you fly from a non-Schengen country, there will be EU and non-EU lanes for you to go through. If a flight is from the UK, you'll have bigger queues for the UK travellers travelling purely down to the fact that most people on each flight are from the UK.

If you fly from a Schengen country, there will be no checks regardless of where you're from.

I have flown into Spain from Germany and there were no checks; literally just walked straight from the plane to Arrivals.

I'm still pretty certain that if we had the benefits of Schengen that we wouldn't have voted to Leave.

JFK is dreadful, every time I've been through they've been incredibly rude. Newark on the other hand was fine.
Damn foreigners! Citizens and GC holders get a "welcome home" from them. I won't be getting that any more - Green Card was sent back yesterday to make sure I don't have to pay US income tax.
