Parents job to feed their kids

It is, but what do we do when the parents have issues preventing this, let the kids starve?

Another tory MP with literally no idea what goes on in the real world

Didn‘t the tweet start with “Where they can“?

It is parents responsibility to feed their children where they are able isn’t it? When they can’t, there needs to be a process in place so that children don’t go hungry. That’s the issue.

And where they cant?
There is a "process" - its called "charity".
The Government by its political ideology of "austerity", creates hungry mouths to feed, by depriving parents of decent homes, permanent jobs and ensuring a good basic real living wage.
Whilst slaves, like rats, scurry around looking for scraps - they havent time to look up at the fat rich man brushing crumbs off the banquet table.

Maybe out of touch but I don’t understand why people can’t feed their children, the amount of help available seems high - benefits, child allowance, food banks, charities, emergency loans and so on, there seems to be many many avenues available in order that children don’t go hungry,

Like I said “seems” happy to be told otherwise and I’m sure I will be butI really can’t get my head around why so many children are apparently not being fed.

I’ll give you a clue, it’s called Tory austerity, a result of which is record levels of food banks, record levels of poverty and for the few, riches beyond your wildest dreams. Since 2010 the vast majority of people are poorer in real terms whereas a very select few have riches way above and beyond what they had prior to the global financial crisis.

I‘m making a few assumptions here, maybe because all the things you list are (deliberately?) are hard to access, and those that need them are not aware they exist, not able to access any of them, and in some cases choose not to access them for various reasons.

Its unquestionable that the idealogically driven austerity drive from the Conservatives has been disastrous for this country, and will continue to be with outcomes that will afflict millions for decades.

Food banks, charities and emergency loans arent a sustainable way to do anything, they help in the very short term but long term they arent much help at all, and emergency loans will likely leave people in huge debt with repayments they cant afford, putting them in a worse situation than before.

Basically years of tory cuts have left some people with absolutely nothing to live on, to the point where even buying food is a struggle

Benefits can take weeks to come through, child benefit is s*d all, loans have to be paid back. Families shouldn’t have to rely on food banks and charities, that’s the point.

Bur wasn’t one of the things the gvt u turned on was to pay school dinners during the holidays after the Rashford campaign. It’s easy to say oh it’s Tory austerity and I’m sure that is part of the case. However I still don’t see it there are so many places to go - they might not be ideal but if they mean you get fed then so be it.

“Those that need them are not aware they exist “ I’m sorry but I can’t agree with that - everybody has heard of a food bank - benefits officers will always explain options available also.

That’s what I don’t see if there are records levels of food banks As you say , why are people not being fed. Especially with the other options/ benefits available also.

Food banks aren’t just somewhere you turn up to with a shopping list, you do know that don’t you? You need to be referred and it’s my understanding there are limits on the number of visits a family can be referred

Because millions are living in poverty? There’s no sleight of hand here and you’re not missing anything.

Millions are below the poverty line and can’t pay to get by. It is largely down to Tory austerity. What is proving so difficult to understand about it? I’m at a loss as to what is confusing you.

" happy to be told otherwise "- But when you are told otherwise you don't seem happy at all.
I am sure you know that foodbanks exist because people don't have enough money to live off.
That people must be referred by a doctor or Social Services- Benefits Officers are not allowed to refer them as it seems like they are colluding with the government to use foodbanks as part of the benefit system.
Many children had free school meals which were a godsend to their parents- holiday times are a nightmare for their parents as they do not have enough money to feed all the family.
Many schools ran lunch clubs in holiday time- funded by the government- This funding was stopped.
Many schools still run breakfast clubs, often teachers paying for cereals and toast from their own pockets.
Now I have told you otherwise I hope you are happy.
