Paddy Mcnair in front of dale fry is insanity

McNair wasn't great today, enither was Howson and Hackney wasnt much better. Smith struggled a bit too, which is too many off days than any team can contend with really.

I can see why McNair gets picked ahead of Fry, by both the last two managers, because he fits better with the way the team plays.

But when our passing is off he's exposed and that's what we saw today. If we go up (which looks slightly less likely after todays result effectively puts paid to the top two places for us) we need a centre half and a central midfielder, maybe a couple of each.

McNair is always the first to get blamed when we have a bad result.
He was poor 2nd half but Lenihan and Smith didn’t exactly cover themselves in glory either. Was a bizarre spell with plenty of our players at blame, not just McNair.
The defence is as only as good as its weakest link the fact that lenihan and smith were poorer today just proofs the point that fry is their prefered partner. Finally warnock knows ever limitation of McNairs game he will have been cockahoop to see him starting instead of fry

McNair is getting the blame because he is usually the visible weak link in the back line when we are under pressure, it's pretty much always been the case. He's competent running out of defence with the ball when we are comfortable but that's his only asset.

I get that, but for that spell in the second half I thought Lenihan was passing us into trouble and trying to be a bit too ambitious. Smith didn’t have his best game and was guilty of losing his man for the third goal, (and then McNair never picked him up either), Smith was wrong footed and maybe should have done better for the second, and maybe could have done better to intercept the cross for the 4th. First goal there was at least 2 or 3 other tackles that should have cleared the danger before McNair missed his.
Not saying he played well, far from it, but the blame doesn’t just lie at his door today.
I really like Smith and Lenihan but it’s wasn’t just about McNair today.

Warnock came up with a plan and it was executed to perfection. Bomb down our right side and cross. Job done.

Criminal it was that simple.. we got caught with our pants down.

We’ve won loads of games with Paddy at the back, both in a two and a three. He’s a good player. I think it’s the sort of thing you address as you go along. We’ll sign a footballing centre half in the summer. But until then, remember where we were six months ago and where we are now. Paddy has played his part.

Don’t scapegoat the lads. We’re having a blinder. Sh*t result today but I can’t believe anyone ever thought we’d beat Warnock’s Huddersfield. This is what Warnock does!

It's disappointing to read some of the comments on here singling out a player when others were equally culpable.

More so given how insanely well they've all done since Carrick came in.

I know it's a hugely disappointing result, but sometimes it happens, a bit of perspective is needed me thinks.

Paddy hasn’t played a big part of how well we done since carrick came.
Fry has.
It’s mainly because paddy is poor. Atleast he will be gone in summer
