Our man Lewis Wing

Credit to him, thought he was disciplined the other night when he came on after Morsy's sending off and defended well. Again today he stuck to his task defensively really well and played a couple of nice through balls up front. Nice to see him get on the score sheet, obviously the sponsorship has made the difference. ;)
Maybe he was promised £100 per goal for the first 9 then his own free shirt

He did well. I question his mobility but his running style can be deceptive.

The one (or two) things he brings is that he will literally shoot from anywhere. It can be frustrating but it brings goals and even deflections that could win a corner etc.

He also plays passes that no other Boro does or 'can'. He was the same last season he'd play a worldie no look ball and no player reads it. He did a couple of superb passes today that went to no one.... Yet they were really good passes.

I'm pleased for him. He was one of very few positives last season and make no bones about it his 7 goals were massive👍
We were always taught at school football to pass the ball into space and let your team mates worry about getting in to the space.

He’s looking a lot fitter than he ever has, which has improved his mobility, still looks like he’s running in treacle but at least he’s not blowing after ten minutes anymore, could prove to be a decent and useful squad player after appearing to be on his way out.

I'm sorry but what game were people watching today?

Apart from a corner which a sunday league keeper would have caught, and a powerful shot with the keeper should have done better with, he did absolutely nothing. I honestly didn't notice he was playing. Saville and Morsy were all over the place - pretty much doing his job for him.

People have horribly short memories, he's still awful and nowhere near champ standard - this thread is mental.

Posts always look stupid when people say he was rubbish ‘apart’ from that. Maybe it’s you who is mental. I haven’t been his biggest fan but he was very good today.

On sky sports said own goal by the keeper dunno how it could be.

I think he really lacks any positional sense and doesnt help with his lack of a sprint to get back to his man. I did think he was way off the pace. His defensive side really lets him down and u can see where he came from. But i do like his passing and willingness to shoot if only there was a place for him or tarmo kink on a football pitch😔

Doesn't that just make them really good kicks then? Surely a pass needs to be to someone to warrant it being called a pass?
I'm no expert but don't agree. You can play an amazing through ball or pass and the forward stands still or doesn't read it.

That's his 'issue' not the guy who made the pass. I do understand this is were a 'connection' comes in. The best partnerships in the world know what the others doing before he does it.

I'm going back 2 seasons when I say Wing has played passes that no other current Boro player would do. I'm not saying he's amazing or the best player at the club. He has a different footballing 'brain' to anyone else.

I think the keeper should have saved his shot. That said I'm not sure any other Boro player would have pulled the trigger?

I'm just calling it as I saw it block.

Yea he scrored a goal but lets be honest we'd have won if we started Ronnie Jepson in there ahead of him.

He did nothing in the game to suggest he should be in the team over any of our other central players, and never will in my opinion. He doesn't have enough attributes.

I get the feeling people are thinking we're seeing some born again Lewis Wing, he's had enough chances and he's far from a top half of the table championship midfielder.

I agree, when everyone is fit he’s not gonna start but all he can do is take opportunities when they arrive. And to suggest he had a poor game today is just wrong I’m afraid mate. He didn’t do anything wrong defensively he played a couple of nice passes, we scored a flukey goal from his corner and he scored a trademark outside the box shot. It’s a successful game from him and one for him to build on. Whether it’s enough to keep him in the team for the next game remains to be seen as I would prefer Watmore in again but we will see. He deserves credit today though.

To be fair when its players like roberts people say he needs a run of games when its someone like wing he doesnt get that. I suppose you need to give the lad a chnace under warnock i just dont think hes good enough but time will tell. Fair play today he helped win us the game.
